Boost + bike??
Who all has done it and how? What will be the difference when on a carbed engine? Are there any good sites about this? And is turboing the best option of is belt driven feasable?
thanks for any info!!

Carbs are harder to tune with FI because you have *basicly* one setting for fuel through out the powerband. Fuel injection, you can change the fuel maps at almost any RPM. You can do it, but you have to put the time in to tuning it right.

Bikes (sportbikes) do not belt drives like cars do, thats why people turbo them, it is easier.

Seems like alotta misinformation here.
You can turbo a carbed engine and there are belt driven superchargers on bikes as well.
Carb tuning is no different than mapping a piggyback fueling system on an injected bike.
Go to Psychobike.com, SuperKaos.com to name only 2 (there are several boards that have this info).

My cbr f4i will be turbocharged by the end of the year.
Some people would argue that its pointless to try to make a civic go fast,
so all the people that ask "why are you wasting your time turboing a 600"
can blow me.
I have a crazy idea on using a power commander for fuel management,
in a 'vafc hack' style setup. If that fails, ill probably just use my spare
standalone i have sitting around. http://www.perfectpower.com
The hardest part is going to be finding space for everything.

It is possible to turbocharge a carburated vehicle. I have seen many Mustangs and Camaros turbo'd and they were carburated. It may just be a little harder to tune. I don't know how hard it would be, I have never done it, but I have seen it done.

In my opinion, absolutely not.

I had two turbo charged Cbr900's (94, 96) They were great fun. Only 180 Hp, but very smooth power. The kits were designed on a bike running Foumula USA, bnefore they changed the rule
. It was very managable in the corners and was a great street set up. Not too much Hp but enough. Kit was made by Team Mr. of El Paso TX.

Carb'd setups:
Draw through:
+carb works same as N/A
-can't have intercooler
-fuel moving through turbo, requires turbo w/ special seals.
-carb can freeze under 50* F ambiant
Blow through:
+can have intercooler
-need airtight carb
-need FPR and harder to tune
-can end up w/ fuel weeping past carb seals
I recomend FI only. Bikes would be better setup for turbos, IMO, if the intake was on the front of the motor.

Mine were all stock injternals except the clutch springs and 96 had turbo pistons. But then they were only running around 190hp. Much more then that and you would have to have connecting rods and valve springs.
My hayabusa is internally stock except for clutch springs and the base gasket. They internals built a lot more heavy duty. They are good for about 350Hp before you need connecting rods and valve springs.
