a few eg dash swap questions....................
in my car right now is a blue cx dash and i just picked up a mint black cx dash from forcfedcivic
...i was lookin at the back of the black dash to see if i could see where the dash mounting bolts go to make an easier swap...but there are alot of holes and im havins some trouble finding holes that mount the dash compared to holes that mount the dash wiring harness..does anyone know about how many dash mounting bolts there are? where they are located and about how long did it take you guys to swap dash's?
i know once i get the blue dash out is when i swap the grey stereo/climate control surround..anything else i should look out for when doing the swap to make it a little easier for me?..yes i have common sense and could use it when doing the swap but even common sense takes a while when you have to hunt down the4 bolts with out knowing where to look excatly or around

well from what i recall there are three bolts in the middle and 2 on the sides those are the main bolts you should be looking at also behind your ashtray has a bolt there too so 4 bolts total from what i remember easyest way to do it is
taking out your stearing wheel
take out your cluster
climate
deck
your ashtray covers and **** like that
then unscrew the four bolts
or if you see more then that holding the dash up then un screw those
uh you should be good from there
correct me if im wrong but thats what i remember

thanks..ive learned from lookin at the back of the new dash that there is one bolt on each end of the dash under each little black cover..1 bolt under the big vent in the middle of the dash...and 1 behind the ash tray...yea i figured i should take out the climate control, radio, guage cluster, and all small acessories
You will need to swap the climate controls, etc while BOTH dashes are out.... the screws are mounted in the back....

Well... I've done other cars and many cars are 'snap fit' in that department... I was surprised to see honda's did it w/ screws....
BTW... as far as paint... I always thought that was ghetto, but it was only a few months ago that I found out MY dash had been painted from blue to black.... the quality was GREAT to my surprise... very impressed. It sounds ghetto, but even avid car guys had no idea it was painted... even after they touched and prodded the dash. After I told them... it was like...

Took me about 90 mins to remove my dash the first time I did it.... and I did it alone....
Now my windshield wipers don't work and the dash cracked where the VIN tag is....I know better now that's it's too late....

yea i found rodrez's thread..not informative at all..mostly pics and dumb questions
well it took me almost excatly 2 hours to remove the blue dash and have the black dash in and all put together...the hardest and longest part was swapping vin plates and making it look like it was never touched
...other then that it was pretty damn easy..i think i could do the next one in an hour tops...everything works perfect on my car after the dash swap..but i did manage to break that little clip under my climate control that holds the cable..so now my heat is stuck on the hot position
(good thing its winter)..over the summer ill get a new one and a jdm front for it
