reason for the question is i raced a coworker coming home from work and noticed a strange sound...turned out my pulley nut was loose

You shouldn't need locktite on that bolt. Just torque it up tight and it shouldn't ever loosen up. The easiest way to make sure it's tight is to tighten up the ps belt and then tighten the bolt, the belt will keep the pulley from turning.
