Budget NA D16z6 or Turbo D16Z6?
Im trying to play around with my stock D16Z6 ...but Im really confused as which way to go.....Im not a spoiled rich kid +nor do I have the time to steal parts+ and they kill me with taxes after I get paid which leaves me with like $500 to spend every 4 weeks.....Im trying to get low 14s...so do I use the NA D16 post or make a home made turbo ..........Take this in consideration..
A turbo D will get you into the low 14s much chepaer/easier than a N/A D. You can slap a greddy kit (with fmic and some decent tuning) on a fairly lightweight car and hit the low 14s no problem.
A guerrilla turbo would be the best bet for your 14's mark, between the two choices. You can pick up Eclipse parts for it or just buy bits and pieces of d-series turbo parts off people if that better suits you.

He said he doesn't have much money, turbo it. Been covered many times it will be faster and cheaper than an NA build up.

If he had a light car and did a little bit of tuning and maybe some head work he could be in the 14's
BTW what the **** kinda car u driving?

I don't think so. Not on a z6. He would have to be riding in close to a 1800lb car to reach the 14s driving his *** off.

of course he can. In Spokane, WA, elevation 2500 feet, I ran a 15.5 @89 mph 2 years ago. 2.3 60 foot, stock bottom end with 130k miles, rebuilt head with my brother's port work, and stock cam. Stock exhaust manifold and crush bent 2.25 inch piping and full interior w/o power steering.
I'm shooting for 14's in my hatch this year with a low mile single cam bone stock with bolt ons and Hondata.
This will be in my fairly gutted daily driven 40 mpg Si

yea thats what is scaring me away from boost...its all motor d series right now for me.

NA d16z6... i'm the only one! its alright, i'm biased anyway. a zex cam or maybe a crower unit along with some good headwork will be pleasing. p29 pistons also spice it up a bit..
however, i do believe that it'll be cheaper to get faster with the turbo. i'm just doing the all-motor single cam thing because nobody else has... seriously, the expression when you beat that other car with an all motor sohc... just priceless
besides, you get this cool sticker too

Yes, they do get to be more expensive than you would first imagine. I promise. My last setup was supossed to barely break 2k and now about 2600 dollars later I have everything. If you boost, make sure you have about twice as much as you would like it to cost you before you get started.
EDIT: BTW, I hate you Evan and I hate you Dustin.

i say turbo it
u can get a turbo kit for less than a grand and you will prolly run 13s high..
maybe but do some searches go in classifieds and hondaclassifieds.com they got stuff for u..
not too expensive either..

Seriously....the Z6 makes lots of power with head work and intake flow. Compression is stupid low stock....9.2:1 :butt face:
mid 10:1 compression with decent head work and you'll have a great setup.
And I would think twice about the p29 pistons....PM6 slugs would be much more suitable. And trust me, there are plenty NA SOHC's out there, you're not the only one

i have had both turbo and na set up on a sohc...the turbo set is definately the power maker but you definately pay for it ( i had the fmax kit ) unless you go with greddy but they can only go so far before you have to add on to it
my na set up was on a z6 and i had some 10.1:1 pistons and crower rods with a gude head...damn that thing was ill...the gude head is money well spent...i had no problem smoking gsr's and si's.
so its just a matter of what you want you could go either or for what you are willing to spend...but i say go turbo cuz there is more room for improvement but if you are lookin to just do some and call it quits get the gude head..highly recommended!!!

You can run nicer times with that engine. Just Get 4 1.6 liters Suzuki Vitara Pistons, 4 ZC single cam rods and 4 eclipse inyectors and with the stock ECU, head, cams and some goods hands to set it up you cold run 13.s and even 12s. Proved
