I have heard of this being done but it is not highly recommended. The fuel curve and limiter on that ecu is going to cause your car nine times out of ten to run poorly.

u can do a one wire vtec conversion if your ecu is a 90-91 pm6, or if its a pr4. the best thing to do is convert to obd1. if anything keep your stock ecu with a switch or vtec controller. before using a pr3/pwo

I would recommend you use the ecu that was designed to be used with the D16Z6.
I previously had a D16Z6 in my 89 HB, and it was wired using a PM6 ecu with a rpm switch to activate VTEC. The car was fast but it was rather flat when I was in VTEC. I would get beat by my brothers stock CRX Si, when I had a I/H/E. I later bought a Zdyne ecu that was meant for a B16. Although this ecu was way better, it was still not making the engine run right when I was in VTEC. I eventually sold it, and later found out that someone on here sells a harness that allows you to use the ecu for the D16Z6. Some people on here have gone that route, and have said that it's way faster with the stock ecu.

go to search type in obd1 conversion.

you need

ecu, p28 unchipped
harness
dizzy
02 sensor

brains to know how to wire things.

Reasons not to run the PR3/PW0 with a D16Z6:

1. You need to run a 1988-1991 distributer. And as we all know, the fitment is NOT pretty.

2. You need to run that retarded, twin oxygen sensor setup.

3. You have to do something about the knock sensor. Leaving it disconnected will cause you to run a check engine light and code 23. And I believe this disables VTEC.

4. The 8200 RPM rev limit is WAY too high for a Z6 and will blow your motor to bits.

5. The fuel maps are not right.

6. If you live in California, it is not refereeable.
