Default turbo manifold d series

hey im gather information about turbocharging my d series motor and see alot of guys who use d series manifolds (pre obd2) and bolt a turbo to it through an adapter plate, it seems ghetto rigged (what im looking for) but honestly what kind of imporovments to real turbo manifolds show over the peiced togeather stuff,

anyways can someone please tell me that there are d series turbo manifolds other than ss autochrome.

There are plenty of other companies that make D series turbo manifolds, Lovefab, Full-Race, Max Rev are some.

ok thats cool, im assuming they perform bettter than dx manifolds stapled to turbos, but by how much, what does it affect most spool up?

Mainly spool up. Lovefab SST is what I'm going with, but be ready to shell out $800 if you want one of those.

Use a hf manifold with adapter plate then. Thats about the cheapest you can go. I'm not sure if you can keep AC though but im sure someone will let you know.

Why can't you keep your A/C? I am keeping mine.

revhad, drag, maxrev, sfp, exploited, lovefab all make manifolds for the d seires, always remember you get what ya pay for so cheap means be prepared to fix a crack every few months or so....quality costs money

I have a drag w/ a tial 38mm. No cracks (cast..), AC compatible, and no spikes w/ the tial. Good mani

I got it for 250 shipped to my door, used. Used parts are key

Good luck.

Yes, you can keep a/c with it. It's basically the same style as greddy, but yea, a/c compatible

Well you also have to be sure the supra turbo bolts to that or other manifolds, might have a different sized flange....

I'm not familiar with the positioning of the 1jz Supra turbo, but I will be using a Precision SC50 and the main thing in the way for me, is that the downpipe could hit the compressor. That's why I have to flair the downpipe from 2.5" to 3".

I'm the one using the supra turbo....my friend who is giving me the turbo said it already has a t3 flange on it, so I'm pretty much set, and can use any manifold I want, just need to make sure that it will clear the ac and stuff...

You couldnt have said it better. I am thinking about turboing my D series motor, but i dont want to spend alot. What do u feel is the best way to turbocharge a motor. You dont think a cheap mani will hold up only running 6 psi. I dont want alot of horsepower, maybe 200 or so just enough to zipp around town yet i am looking for realiabily. Do u think it would be smart to go and get a good mani or do u feel it would be ok just to piece a kit together. And yes i know money equals realiablity but im kinda broke right now.

thanks nick

Exploited, if you want to spam your product become a sponsor. Not to mention he said cheap.

Cheapest option is a STD manifold off older civics/crxs. Next step up would be a simply loggie. Then the next price jump up would be a used cast manifold (revhard>Drag>others)

Loggie would be your best choice. go on http://www.homemadeturbo.com and PM stealthmode in their forum. $175 shipped for a loggie. Cant get much better than that....

BMC racing from HMT is also making a D manifold, its said to sell for $125+shipping with what ever turbo flange you choose, and with or without an external WG flange. He also is going to be selling a stainless manifold for $175+ shipping.

I'm running the ported HF manifold ( with a BMC racing adaptor plate $40 ), but I'm thinking about swapping to the $125 manifold, but I wonder about the gains...

I payed $40 for the adaptor plate from BMC, $50 for the HF manifold, and about $15 in nuts/bolts, so $105 total vs $125... If I didn't already have my car set-up, I'd just wait for the true manifold, but the HF/STD manifold isn't like the worse thing in the world....

No I don't work or really know the "BMC racing" guy, but he kicks *** !!! Great service and great products so far, despite being really low priced...
