which b16?
So heres the deal. Im buildin an ef sedan for roadcourse/street duties... Not lookin to build a beast, just somthing bulletproof and fun to drive. I decided on going with a bolton b16 (maybe a JRSC way down the road) and am wondering which complete swap to get (from hmotorsonline).
Listed on the site are the: SiR-I, XSi, and SiR-II
From the site, the HP differences are in compression (not worried about that), and the other main difference i see is the Cable or Hydro tranny.
Would the difference between the cable/hydro really be worth the extra $1351.00 (cost difference of sir1 and 2 + hydro kit from Hasport)?
Also on the topic... ECU.... The SiR-I comes with the PR3/PW0 and the SiR-II comes with the P30. Can the SiR1 be upgraded to P30 spec later on? is there a major difference?
Which would you recomend for my goals?
Help a honda newbie out.... I would appreciate it.

You'd want the SiR 1 kit... I think it's 1499? Get the HAsport mounts and linkage with that as well.
Also, you're correct about the B16 being upgraded to the P30.... that's basically converting your car from OBD0 to OBD1, but you'd need a new Dizzy, and other assorted goodies.
I'd honestly reccomend the the SiR 1 kit.... the XSi kit is OBD-1 as is the SiR 2 kit, which means that these require more labor, and they are more expensive.
SiR 1 is the way to go.

since you aren't going to go all out right away just go with the sir-1, you don't really need to worry about obd1 if its only gonna be a car to have fun around the town and you will always be able to change to obd1 later down the roade. i agree with all the rest, i think sir-1 is gonna be your best option.

Actually it's '92-'95 tegs=OBD1
Or more accurately ALL Hondas '92-'95=OBD1
The teg body style changed in '94, but the OBD DID NOT.
Just my .02 cents.

easiest is sir1. comes with correct ecu (plug and play)
sir2 would be much cooler.. hydro trans is supposed to be all around better, no diff blowing out, better syncros and more common.
if goin sir2. you will need an obd0-1 conversion harness(~125) or make your own.
you will have to add 3 extra wires for the o2 sensor and the 4 extra wires for vtec.
Depending on how much you want to put into the car. Is sir2(obd1) worth it? i say so. but it is more work and a much more involved swap. but the end result will be better i say

I got a b16 from a XSI with the S1 tranny and it was not OBD 1.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I actually have an XSi B16 in my car... from an 89 DA6. But if you go to HMotors website, the kit they label as an "XSi" kit is out of the 92-92 Teg version... OBD1. Think before you post.
