whats this thing?? (guage cluster)

so im making a custom gauge cluster with a 5th gen tach but this thing is bothering me.. the grey-clear plastic thing with a chip and blue plug.. its hooked to my speedo but what does it do??? what is it??

i had that on my stock crx si, and it doesnt have cruise control...

it is the VSS, i unlpugged mine and threw the VSS CEL when decelerating in gear.
I only had that w/ DPFI, w/ MPFI I threw no codes. KEEP IT, it may do something even if you get no CEL.

I've taken four 4th gen guage clusters apart.
an EF8
89 CRX DX
90 Civic CX
91 Civic CX
..and none of them had that. I have no clue what it is. But just to let you know, in that picture, the VSS is located on the left, right behind all that plastic behind the cable output there.

Are you talking about the gray bit? Its not the VSS. Theres a beeper inside of it I know that. I took it off my JDM ZC cluster and I was thinking it was for the JDM speed chime that goes on at 120 kph.... *shrugs* My USDM cluster didn't have it thats why I thought that.
