A type r head is a little better than a GSR. Stiffer Valve springs, better cams, etc. etc. Is it worth it? I dunno...I'm debating the same thing.

Better throttle body, intake manifold, cams, stiffer springs, and the head has a mild hand port job. It would be better.

gsr head has pentroof style combustion chambers.

you will have more compression with gsr head.

I like the injector location of the B18 more than the B16 too. (and also agree with evol) I think the R head is made to big when the factory does the their porting besides it looks like Ray Charles ported most that I have seen, not very preety and most racers in the NHRA and Nopi who run a honda and run a B series engine run the B18 head

r heads are better all around and can be modified with gsr combustion chambers for good quench pad area and the valves on these heads are back cut and nitraited in my upinion if you do either head for perf i would go for the gsr cuz the r head is just to puurty

If you go with the type-r head, your compression will go down ~.385 pts and will hold up better under boost with its better valvetrain compaired to a stock gsr head. However, with the high cost of a type-r head, it is simply not worth the money It would be more economical and better performance wise if you buy a gsr head with bent valves (get one cheap) and send it out to PORTFLOW. You will end up with a new, built head for about the same amount of money as a type-r head, walking away with a stronger and more tolerable setup.
