Default Hey, RIGHT ON "Certified Honda Technician"

Well 3-4 years ago when I got my 93 civic it had 60k on it... I figured I should get the T-belt done while it was still new...

At the time I had no access to a shop as I was working in a resturant and going to school in Boston... SO I decided... go to the dealership and get it all done with OEM parts and be done with it...

Never really got to used to the car before dropping it off... Although it felt kinda crappy when I got it back... nothing HORRIBLE but not all that great...

As time went on I had ALL SORTS of detonation issues and trouble properly setting my timing to spec...

Well I did my T-belt myself tonight and guess what... F'ing Honda Dealership had the cam gear advanced a tooth...

I had said I thought that was the case for a while but with it being an interference motor and me BEATING THE TAR out of it on a regular basis I figured there was no way.

Well apparently it was... car runs MUCH better... only problem is now I have to do the timing all over because I had given up using a gun and just set it to where it didn't ping any more... which was about as far retarded as it can go... SO now the car pulls like a **** and the timing is still all retarded...

I'm supprised though because I had felt that it had pretty decent power for a 1.6 as it was... now it's borderline nasty.

Still might get an H22 from work though.

It had problems but nothing serious... People have commented on how well it ran...

Recently it was running like a dream... idled great, didn't bog too bad, had decent passing power... really no complaints... other than it's a slow car...

I was REALLY supprised it was off... I always joked about it being off but never figured it actually was... I just thought the z6 wasn't too impressive of a motor...

It's still nothing to write home about. but it's MUCH better.

I am glad I read this thread. That maybe the problem with my car.
Can I tell if its off a tooth by timing? I bought the car with a swap, so who knows whats been done. Runs like crap.

Bogs out when I try to take off, almost stales then takes off. Idle will bounce when the car is cold, drop to about 500 then up to 1500 then will drop about 500.Maybe less. Almost to the point that it will cut off.Smells like its running rich. CEL will come on sometimes. If it comes on I will turn the car off at a light then it will not come back on. y8 wired to obd1 running 94 si ecu.If there is no CEL will the ECU still throw codes?

I'd check the idle control valve before you mess with timing. Just let your car warm up and idle, then unplug it. Your car will either stall or the idle will drop significantly. Since your idle is allready strange this could be the culprit

I know the timing is off cause I already messed with it. Playing by ear.Changed sparks plug already. But the problem was happening before that. Will try to fix that first once I get a timing light. Okay where is the ICV at? Also whats up with this harness? OBD1 to OBD2. Since I have a OBD2 motor running OBD1 can I get this harness then run a OBD2 ECU? I still dont get that harness. Dosent make scence.

Get yer own thread you s.o.b. ...

Are you using your obd1 harness from the car or the obd harness from the donor motor?... If your harness is obd1 you can get a conversion harness but I think you'll still need to run some wires for sensors that aren't present in the obd 1 one like air temp sensor and knock senor...

The IACV is on the back side of the intake manifold by the TB... it should have 2 10 or 12mm bolts and 2 coolant lines runing into it...

http://www.hondaautomotivepart...82%29

Part number 9...

Anyway I still haven't fixed my timing... I'll probobly get to it tomorrow or monday but the car is running pretty good... it's actually bogging a lot on acceleration in low rpms... could be the retarded timing but I think my map sensor may be going on the blink too... I've already cleaned my IACV and throttle body recently...

I bumped the timing back to normal-ish... still need to do it with a gun... but it drives like a whole new car...

It rips through the gears MUCH better then it ever has before.
