a B16B of B18C5
My friend was thinking of getting one of the Type R motors, he does not know which one he is going to get yet, what Type-R motor would you get? B16B or B18c5

It depends on what kind of car it was going into, but either way, the c5 is the stronger of the 2! And for the money it cost's to get one of the f-er's, I would want the most out of it!

Even I am doing so soon. Can't beat an OEM 200 hp machine. Also, the N/A powerband of the ITR motor is superior to the map that I am running with my 14g kit. I say definatley get the ITR motor (B18C5), as the B16B is still a 1.6 liter motor that you have to rev the **** out of to make power.
This does not mean that that for the money, the turbo D isn't the best bang for the buck (NOT TRYING TO START A D vs. B THREAD!!!), but if you have the money for the ITR motor, I say go for it.

I'm gonna go against the grain with this one guys, however my answer is contingent on the prices of the motors. If the CTR motor is found way cheaper than any ITR motor you could find, then I would say go ahead and pick up the CTR swap. With the money you saved, search here on H-T and find yourself an ITR crank for cheap, along with a set of ITR rods. Replace the ITR crank/rods with the CTR's that are in the motor, gets some new bolts etc, and voila! You now have a motor that is even better than a stock JDM ITR motor!

That's the real problem right there, finding a CTR motor any cheaper than the ITR motor. If you can find them cheaper, they aernt that much cheaper to warrant doing all of that work to make the same motor as the ITR (by destroking it back to the 1.8).

And this is why?? From what I understood the CTR was just a destroked ITR. If you are using an ITR crank to increase displacement in the CTR block to make it comperable to the ITR motor, then the comparison should stop there.
After reviewing what you said though, you were suggesting building an ITR engine. I'm going to pick up an ITR engine this coming summer, and I don't feel the need to break open a 4k swap to make it any better. I think my mid 13 second quarter will do me just fine.

Exactly....I am most likely going to be getting a R swap for my soon to be mine EK and I am doing nothing to the motor except I/H/E. And some solid mounts of course.
