Need some ideas/opinions on new bike.
Hi. Im pretty stumped right about now. First time in my life i have CHOICES of what kind of bike i can get... I know the model im getting, but i just dont know which one to get.. Here are my options.
1) 2002 Triple black special edition Hayabusa. 700 miles asking $9200.
* the 2002 hayabusas had bad starters... Not strong enough for the motor and there is a recall on them.. Dealerships will only replace if under warranty which this bike is not.
2) 2004 Special edition RED hayaybusa. Asking price is 10,999. Im sure thye are rock solid on this bike.
* this bike i will have to spend close to 2-3000 more for over a slight used one...Add the setup fees and all that other bs its quite a bit more. Plus i have to wait a month for it..
3)2004 Blue and silver busa.. Asking price is 10,599.. I have room to negotiate on this bike, BUT, i dont know if i like that color.. I want something a little different..
IM stumped... Either way im paying cash on all 3 of these choices.
ANy help/ opinions/ ideas?? ANything??

Im sure its not hard to change... Just need to buy a new one. I was thinking i can call and get a price on the starter, then minus that from the sales price of the bike...
In that case id get the black one....

Why a Hayabusa? I personally would take a GSXR-1000 over a Hayabusa. I just like something that handles better. And a Hayabusa is not the best handling bike. Can't wait to get my new GSXR-1000 in March.

Why a hayabusa?? well, few reasons. Gsxr is very uncomfortable on anything over a 60-100 mile ride.. GSXR isnt really set up for two people. It sticks my wife WAAYYY in the air.. She doesnt like that.. The hayabusa is still the fastest bike in a straight line in production. period. I like BIG bikes. I like Dual exhausts. I like to be able to punch it in pretty much any gear and it goes, and GOEESS.. UHHH, the bike handles alooott better then people seem to think.. Most people sit on the bike and feel how heavy it is and then just get off it... Ride one.. They handle VERY well in my opinion... Going fast in the corners not a track is an invitation for death... So corners arent that important... The hayabusa is quite a bit more rare then any other bike... TOns of GSXrs around here... NEVER find a busa....
Theres MY reasons...

The 02 all blak/SE would be the way to go - starters aren't necessarily bad, the TRE mod seems to have alot to do with the starter failures.
Price seems a lil high for the 02 though.

Depending on where ya look - yes, that price seems high.
Are you going to mod the bike?
If so, then it doesn't matter if it's a 99-03 as long as it's in good shape.
They can be had for $6-8k all day long with little or lots of mods.

Yeh the busa is WAYYY nicer for long rides..than a GSX-R no question i'd go triple black unless you live somewhere where it gets REAL hot, because my ZX-7 was black and after a day at the beach you absolutely dreaded getting on that bike...heh...just my .02
The other bikes the prices seem a little high but i personally love the blue on white...red is meh...

Actually the ZX-12 beat the Busa' for 1/4 mile times the past two years and will probably this year. Not knocking your decision or the Busa', but you did ask for opinions. I can agree with you on the long ride portion of it. Hayabusa is even more comfortable than a ZX-12. I just honestly think Hayabusa's are overrated. Just my opinion

you should recheck your info. Hayabusa still has the quickest 1/4 mile time... Not that it really matters, all those quarter mile times are adjusted... You cant take a stock zx12 and run 9s on it.. NO way.. Same with the busa.. But thats what its tested at...
It all really depends who you talk to ya know. I have watched 2or 3 shootouts on the zx12 vs the busa and the busa won all 3.. but they are by such a marginal gap...
I almost go the zx12, but wife didnt like being so high inthe air... And 1300 sounds cooler then 1200. ahaha..

They are really close. I guess I just like the look of the ZX-12 because it looks more like a 600 or liter bike. I don't like the dual exhaust very much. It's just a matter of opinion I guess. And your right, always gotta think about the ladies.
