!!! EDMUNDS BLUE BOOK!!! What gives??????????
How in the world does Edmunds blue book come up with their estimated value for a Type R. If these are true #'s then everyone selling a Type R is asking way too much
what gives!!

Really depends on whether your buying or selling, doesn't it!
Not like these are every day types of cars with hundreds of thousands of them available.
When I wrecked mine the insurance co. pretty much just went with the NADA value for a car with 138K miles on the clock.

Edmunds prices have always been a joke (and not just for ITRs). KBB and NADA base their prices on actual wholesale transactions (and tend to be resonably accurate for most cars that I have looked at). Edmunds, I think, just pull the numbers out of their ***.

all edmund is doing, is giving insurers and buyers a false sense of fair market value.
if you ever get stiffed, you can always take the insurance company to court, and have them pay for all fees incl legal fees once you establish that fair market value is not edmunds.

Just for fun last night, I entered in a '97 GS-R with 50k miles (my '97 R has 50k) and the 'excellent' value for my zip code was $8,290. I would think my R would be around $15k.

yeah...it is all a joke. I think an R well taken care of would be worth more than alot of new cars for sale off the lot. The reliability of the engine alone is worth the investment.
