Default Welcome the newest member to the Boertje Motorsports family...

Well, I don't have to worry about not being able to race my hatch in STS instead of CSP... (sorry for the crappy looking night time pics)

stats:
1988 CRX Si
completely stock (for the moment)
160,000mi
All records and receipts kept (almost all work performed by dealer)
Paint is badly oxidised, but body is completely straight (was in minor accident.. he even gave me body shop receipts)
Runs incredibly smooth!!
paid $1400

The carfax:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Carfax &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The story of this 1988 HONDA CIVIC 1500 CRX SI (JHMED9369JS******) according to our interpretation of the information reported to CARFAX:

- This hatchback has had at least 3 owners. The first title for this hatchback was reported to CARFAX by an Oregon DMV in 1992.

- It has had no minor or moderate accidents reported to CARFAX.

- It has had no DMV-reported total loss events, like a major accident, fire or flood.

- It has a consistent mileage history with no indication of an odometer rollback. The last odometer reading, reported on 05/04/1992, was 74,238 miles.

- It was not reported to a DMV as a Manufacturer Buyback (LEMON).</TD></TR></TABLE>

To make this thread RR/AX tech related:
To anyone who's racing an 88: Are you using the "passive rear steering" or did you swap out the control arms? What are people's thoughts about going one way or the other. Will it have the same effect with stiffer springs / shocks / sway bar? (Plan on using GC / Koni when I can afford to get them, pulling the ST rear sway from the hatch)

Travis,
Mind giving me your take on the passive rear wheel steering? If it's more of a curse than a blessing, I may swap rear LCAs with my 91 hatch before I sell it. That would allow me to keep my Tokico Iluminas as well (which would just delay my buying Konis a little longer)

&lt;--- obviously unable to sleep tonight.... Just like a proud new father.

I can give you my take, and the opinions/advice of others. As you can imagine, there's no one answer. Send me an e-mail to higdon@u.arizona.edu and we'll figure out who's right

Thats a good price. In Cali somthing like that will go for over $4000. But you can also find a riced out one for about $2500. Good luck and hope to see you also in ITA.

I think travis likes his passive rear steering...I on the other hand really like my 89 setup...

Originally I had just the hatch (91 std w/ 91 Si drivetrain) and I was planning to go into STS this year until they came out with the no UD/BD rule. so I was stuck in CSP and not very happy about it. Now I've got the CRX instead and I'm feeling a little better being in CSP with it.

The HB will be up for sale after I'm done stripping all of the go-fast goodies off of it. I'm leaving all the bling on it and one of my co-workers already offered me $2500 (If he can come up with the money) Just enough to pay off the money I borrowed from my boss to get this rex and get some GC/Konis for it

I haven't fully looked into it yet, but from what I can gather, it works by using body roll to alter the toe of the rear wheels. So I guess my real question is, If you eliminate the body roll in the rear with 450lb GCs, Koni yellows, and an ST rear sway bar, will the rear steering even do anything any more?

I was originally planning to pull the rear wiper, but I'm finding it to be sooo handy!!

That's not a weird camera effect... paint was badly faded on both fenders and the pass door. A friend of mine took a look at it and said "It's missing it's clear coat... It just needs to be cut and buffed" and then he went and got his buffer and made it shine like new (who knows how long it will last though)

bone stock (not for long)

I think the seats have been re-covered. That doesn't look like the normal Si pattern does it? (poped stitching in pic has been re-sewn)

I finally have intermitent wipers again (yay!)

Yep, that's the 88 Si seat pattern. I still find it hard to believe how many different seat materials and mount patern Honda made between 88-91.

Look at my bio for a full list of mods that are - were on the hatchback. Everything performance related including the tranny, clutch, flywheel, etc... but not including the engine itself, the springs or the shocks... Will be going onto the CRX. Then the Hatch will be sold and the money used twards a GC/Koni setup.

The question is... can I get this done before the first Auto-x of the season, which is in 27 days, 7 hours, 51 min, 37 sec? I know I'll be racing without the springs/shocks for the first race..... I haven't even ordered them yet!
