Default questions about JDM header installation

a few more questions because I want to avoid headaches when my JDM header arrives,
does the header bolt to the stock support bracket under the car?
does it have a O2 bung?
do I need a new minfold gasket?
would I fail emmissions with this header?
anything else to look out for?
thanks

hi!

No the jdm oem header will not bolt to the lower bracket. A JDM bracket will be needed. But many ppl dont even use it.

Yes, the header ahs a 02 bung.

I reused my header gasket. I guess it depends if it is worn down, or the milage on your car.

NOt sure bout emmissions, but i doubt it will pass.

Be sure to get all the bolts you need before installing. U need 2 longer bolts for the header to cat connection plus some washer. Also you will need 3 bolts and washer to connect the cat to the exhaust.

I ahve a semi detailed installation of a JDm OEm header on my site for a g3 gsr.

yup im positive about the lower bracket.

But its not totaly neccessary if you are low on $$$

I got the bracket because i didnt want to put too much stress on the head bolts and have them brake off.

BUT..........
There are many ppl on this board that run the JDM OEM 4-1 w/o the bracket and have no problems that i have heard of, except some rattling i think.

that bracket plays a huge role in stabilizing the header/cat during any engine torquing over.

I bet it plays a major role when dealing with a 40# stock header, and will be less necessary with an aftermarket lightweight header.

actually, assuming you use a cat, I'd be SHOCKED if it did not pass emissions..

yup they do...just ordered it!

I have used my JDM header for 6 months now without it. I am only getting it "just in case" and because the price is reasonable now.

BTW...get the upper heat shield too...its a must for passing smog in CA..they will never know! Other than the visual check...the header SHOULD pass CA emmisions.

If it doens't pass emissions, it's not the header that made it fail.

Chris, are you muslim?
