trying to wire up a Cd player
Its not working. I wired up all the speaker wires, no sweat. theres 4 wires left over. A black one, (ground im assuming) A red one (power maybe?) A yellow one, and a blue/white one (that one wasnt connected to anything in my old car. Which wire goes to which?
the black is ground the yellow goes to a constant power source the red goes to a swithed power source. thats all you need for it to work .. the blue is probably for remote amp turn on.
not sure about the yellow and red. Red is usually constant power, and yellow would be the remote power. But yes, black is ground and blue is remote amp turn-on.
Nevermind, I stand corrected.

yellow isnt remote, remote is always blue. The yellow is your power supply and the red comes from the ignition and tells the cd player when to turn on. Black is ground..

Your battery/memory is the yellow wire it goes to your white w/ blue stripe OEM wire, your ignition is the red wire it goes to your yellow w/ red stripe OEM wire, and your ground which is black goes to your black OEM wire...Your blue wire is your remote turn-on wire....Hope this helps

OK, a couple of problems. I found the white/blue wire and connectedf the yellow one to that. But the only 2 wires left are a white w/ green stripe and a red w/ black stripe. No black wire, no yellow red wire....need help.
I have an adapter, i used it in my old EG. The speaker wires are the same color, but like i said, its different for the black, yellow, and red wires. Crap, i need a voltmeter.
I tried using a voltmeter. Im getin nothin!! Anyone have a 91 STD wiring manual? And are the stereo and cigarette lighter in a circuit? Im getin nothin on the cigarette lighter wires too, maybe they share a fuse but i dont see any blown ones.
Here Im going to teach you a little ghetto ingenuity....First off take your RED and YELLOW wires from your head unit connect them togather and add about a foot of wire to it, then run those wires to your fuse panel...PULL out your "RADIO" fuse and wrap the wire around the metal terminal on the fuse...Then push it firmly back in to its housing...Now youve got power...Than take your BLACK wire and connect it to a screw in any part of your cars frame...MAKE SURE you scrape any coating of paint or dust or left over remanents of your joint you smoked last week...Now you have a ground source...ONLY problem with this hook-up is that you wont have any memory i.e clock, radio stations presets.....

Thats kinda ghetto, i want memory.

Yeah i could do that. But i want to get to the bottom of this. My stereo, cigarette lighter, ceiling light, and clock are getin no power. I checked all the fuses, theyre good. I was wandering if theres a plug that connects all these thing or a relay. Also, the previous owner put in a CRX si dash, they might have messed something up, what should i look for?
this is how my stereo is hooked up and i connected the black wire to the frame.....the yellow wire i hooked it up to the red wire which goes to the battery.....and the red wire from the stereo to the cigarette lighter!!!~laters
My cigarette lighter doesnt work either. I looked at the fuse panel, theres a 15 amp fuse that connetcs the stereo, lighter, clock, and ceiling light (all of which dont work for me) i pulled out the fuse, it looked good. When i put it back in there was a loud beep. Does that mean anything? Plus i spoted a small relay chillin behind the lighter, anyone know what im talking about?
