Will this head work?
Ok heres the deal. I bought a turbo, mani, adapter plate, and dp from a guy of HT a while back. Well I found a guy that had a head he offered to trade me for. It has been port and polished, titanium valves, new valve retainers, new springs. Well we traded. Well got it and the valve cover is this silver cover and says VTEC on it. Found out it's a D16Y8 head. Will this head go on my A6 without any problems. I am changing the cam out and putting a turbo cam so controlling the VTEC isn't a problem. I just want to make sure it fits my A6.

That cam has nothing to do with vtec. Are you saying you dont want vtec?

Na cause this head is port and polished already. Will the vtec help/hurt me in a turbo app? I decided to just keep the head and run a VACF. How early can I make vtec kick in if I even should hook it up?
damn dude, you really have no whats going on do you, lol, j.k. Get the vafc, put the Z6 head on, its a z6 if it came with that valve cover, only 95's had that cover, and 92-95 is a d16z6. No difference really, just about 1-2 hp. The cam wont work in that head, valvtrains all different, and you cant swap out parts between teh two heds, a6 and z6. So just put the z6 head on your a6 block, make sure to remove the oil jet in the middle of the block, towards the firwall on teh block surface, hook up the vafc, add feul where needed. It will run lean in vtec up top, so youll wnat to get a wideband o2 to know where you need more feul. And as long as you tune your tubro setup, it will make no difference with or without vtec, it will actually be better, becasue instead of using a motor that only puts out 108 hp, your starting around 125WHP.
The sohc vtec head on a non vtec block is called a minime, do a search onit and youll find tons of results. I myself am doing a turbo minime, just get some 450cc injectors, and boost that puppy. With the vafc youll have to detune the injectors, even when running in boost, but its better to run at a low work load than running the crap out of your stock ones.

I already have some 450's. All I need is a turbo and mani to have a complete setup. I am probably going with a lovefab shorty mani. Actually I really don't know what's going on. I have never delt with a vtec motor. Everyone always told me they suck and were pointless. So how early can I make the vtec kick in with a VAFC?

Search for mini me or just d16z6 and you'll find a ton of info on doing the swap. I woulda done it but I....hmmm....but I just got a p&p head with delta 272 cam and dual valve springs 1mm oversize valves....d16a6.

To tell you the truth, I would not agree with you going turbo just yet untill you know what you have, and know what you want to do..
Trust me man, knowlage is not aquired overnight. Take your time, do it right.
