hey i just got a front strut bar and it wont clear my intake. i have a 91dx hatch and it hits in the middle, by the dashpot thing. do you think it would be ok if i put washers on the bolts where i attach it to raise it up a bit? or will that affect my suspension. i just want to install the bar.

 

Just get one for the DX or convert to MPFI, the MPFI intake manifold has a lower profile.

 

What kinda strut bar did you get? Mine fit snug on my dx....

 

i suggest simple green and a pressure washer, i think a strut bar would scratch up things.

I have one in my dx,it clears just fine,but it is also one of those ebay ones,but it's for an si,i know that for sure.

i ran into that same problem but what i did was got a rat tail file and filed a little notch about a half inch or so and it clears the DP housing with no problem i can take a pi if u want to see how i did it.

 

thanks for the replies, yeah i meant CLEAR, i didnt notice that. anyways i have a LS motor in my hatch, and thats the reason why it wont clear. im thinking of just trying to use some washers maybe...see if that works. woudl it depfeat the purpose of the strubar, because im not sure if washers would be ok to use.

 

ok i went and took some night shots of the clearance of the eg bar in my crx with b16. in person there is a little under an inch.

yes.... all civic mounts are the same, i took the one off my crx and put it on a ek (99 civic 4dr) and i put the one from the hatchy i owned on the crx.

 

i suggest returning/selling the one you have and getting a neuspeed bar. you can see here that it easily clears my dx manifold
