Default O2 Sensor problems?

I had to hook and splice an o2 sensor up on my JDM d15b, I am running a P28 ecu, i did a diagnostic check on my car and it gave me the code for heated o2 sensor and the o2 sensor by itself. Now the o2 sensor is hooked up to the d14 pin on the ecu, but the check engine light still comes on. Do i need to put a heated o2 sensor on or just a non-heated one? My hatch is a CX model, so originally it didn't have one.

Anything would be great!
thanks dave
