Poll about wheels...
What's your take on sand blasting or glass beading wheels to prep them, in an attempt to paint them a different color?
I have read the How-To write ups and they were very helpful, but since i have the ability to do this kind of thing for free, would this be a worth while thing to do to get rid of the original (white
) color ? I also scraped against a curb once, so i am hoping this will take care of that problem too?
I was thinking that depending upon how well they turn out, i may just leave them blasted! However, the plan is to get a nice gunmetal color. I'll be taking before and after pics too, but wont be able to do the project until March.

they were around 500$ w/o tires if i remember right?
but remember tho - i can do this for FREE. itll only cost my time, which i have no problem giving up if this is even somewhat worth it

Well I say bead or sand blast them, I have sand/bead blasted alot of parts at a job I had working for my grandfather and I use to get to work on my own parts in my free time after work. I would say bead blast them, because it usually turns out smoother than sand, but I guess it depends on what grade of beads or sand you use. The smaller and finer the beads or sand the smoother your wheels will be after the blasting. I would also before sand or bead blasting use a fine file or rasp and work on truing up your lip with that or a flat sanding block that is like 6" or 12" and try not to take off to much material, then just blast the lip after you get it finished and it should look just as good as when it was new. You might have to just do a final sanding with some fine paper before paint if it is to rough.

i was wondering if one would be better than the other for doing wheels. and NO, i do not know what i plan on doing. that is why i am asking which one i should do! do you think i would poll asking which i should do for no reason at all, then you are just a moron.
