Default Sound deadening here and there

Hey guys

This will be my very first sound deadening install type thing. So i pretty much need as much advice as needed. Also, is there anything that costs the same (or very close too...re: poor student) with better sound deadening capabilities?

1. Fatmat? Cheap alternative that works or no? I was thinking of buying an 100 sq ft roll and doing my ENTIRE car with 2 layers. Then running testtones from 1hz-60hz finding the rattles at every Hz and reenforcing those areas.

2. Floor. Under my floor i was thinking of 2 layers of fatmat and then throwing on 2 layers of actual carpet foam (the stuff they put under). I hear that this works well with reducing road noise and rattles(adding mass ?)

3. Skeleton. Ok...lets see if i can explain this. After i remove the plastic body panels, behind there is a skeleton then behind there is the outside panel. Now between the skeleton and outside panel, i've heard of people using self-expanding foam but it does have issues of contracting and expanding(ruining body panels etc). Would I be able to stuff it with something to add mass? Maybe alot of pillow stuffing or something?(polyfill)

4. Roof. Again 2 layers of fatmat. What else can be put up there to reduce noise?

Oh and btw..i dont care about the weight this will add.

you can't add mass to something unless you attach it to the panel.

Also, polyfill is very light...the mass it would add is negligible...

Ok fair enough.

So the carpet under foam stuff is a no go?

What could i add instead?

foam absorbs sound and turns its energy to heat, it can be very useful
