i know bauley is gonna reply to this one. quesiton is how important is your input shaft bearing and what does it do. i know where it is but what is it for. i searched but only found bauleycivics write up on how to replace them. thanx

 

very important, important in the way that if it goes, you need to rebuild.

What happens if you don't fix it soon:








The ISB will get chewed up and thrown all over the tranny...destroying it and locking it up. Tom (B18C5-EH2) said he drove around for a few months on a bad one and he was locked out of gears (destroyed tranny).

 

Symptoms of it is a loud clanking/grinding noise when the car is in neutral, and some noise when you are in gear.
