great show, but im sorry to say if you put a DOHC motor in your car you dont get twice the HP, TQ and speed "I toped it out at 110, so if I get a DOHC motor i can got 220!!"
I really enjoyed the show. If it's not already, I hope it becomes a regular series. That was great.
Watching it did raise a question for me though. When the three mechanics were looking at the Honda saying that there was a lot of things on the car and it was all done wrong...how the heck do you find out what is a good thing to do? I'm real new to the tuner scene and love the cars. However, all my knowlege revolves around old muscle cars. Are tuners that much different?

Well, I hope I dont get enemies for the things I am about to say. Well, the girl was on a dream world and the boy in the 4wd didnt look like a street racer for me. They do things to the awd that it shouldnt have been done and the mechanics did a perfect job on the civic but i would put a b18 or a 20b under her hood.
well, when they open the civic's hood I yust saw a Stock motor and a waste gate thats all. so I really dont know what was wrong there since a couldnt see it all. IF they do the show again i hope they choose more serious drivers that know whats under their hood and what they could do to their ride to impoved it.
Examples. The girl sayed that she wanted to race with her stock motor, and the boy didnt have no upgrades on his ride until the show!!!!
Well the show was Good no doubt about it!!!!!!!!

The show was okay...but compared to the other shows, Monster Garage, Monster House, American Choppers, I thought it was a joke. Not enough focus on the cars and what they modified. Never even saw a closeup of the B16 engine/turbo setup/nitrous system.
And it totally looked like a setup with Leila showing up to the same street race as that other jeri curl guy, considering she's not a street racer.
Needs much better production to be a series! Was expecting more from the Discovery channel. I mean, we barely saw hard work on the cars! Put 70% more focus on the cars and the work that goes into them!

Man, after reading all the many comments from the many posts on this subject it sounds to me that I was glad I was(am) at work. One of the things I think you guys are forgetting though, is that this show was a pilot. Pilots are meant to bring in as many people as possible in order to show interest in it from the public which in turn brings interest to whoever is producing the show in hopes of making a series out of it. Lately, I've been kinda disappointed in monster garage. When they first started they HAD to stay within their budget($3000) and they HAD keep the car looking stock. This was a show that originally got me interested in trying out fabricating and building my own stuff. The mustang grass cutter and garbage truck explorer was great! They didn't go over budget and the cars still looked stock(from a distance
) Now Jessie james is doing auto zone commercials, doesn't even show up for any part of the builds and the crew get $20k in "freebies" (WTF!)
I personally hope this show takes off but I agree with most of you. I didn't get to see the show but if they have a technical breakdown of parts, a budget of lets say $5000(should be reasonable for a decent build and NO ******* FREEBIES!! I AND 99.9% OF US HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANY FREE **** ON OUR BUILT MOTORS WHY SHOULD THEY?!?!?!) and 7 days to make it and this might actually be a decent show.

i like how the owner of the awd said that he was going to put like a 100 shot on his car since he knew the other car had nos, and the mechanics landed up putting a 25 shot on (i think) I thought it was a good show, just needs more focus on the cars like previous mentioned, and less focus on the mechanics carrying around
The other thing, they were only given 36 hours to prep each car, but no focus was given to timelines, construction, and what was all involved.
I do hope they can make another go at it and improve the format. Less interviews....more work!

Marauder!! I agree with you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------man, you know how I feel, Im fu!@#%* my self working hard and stuff to see guys getting freebies, showing off and for nothing, because almost all of them do bull@#% to their cars and 4 all they did to that civic I would had put a b20 and a lot more!!! ps. thats why I dont have no stiker on my car!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, not enough details on what went into both vehicles.had more drama than tech stuff. And of course,i agree with everyone else, the bugets and time restraints need to be more realistic to make it interesting.
yeah, I'm sorry for going off like that but people getting free **** without working for it just pisses me off. I don't mind it when people have a sticker on their car because they ACTUALLY have a sponsor and worked for it, but these 16 and 17 year olds out there that are getting $3500 turbo kits and $6000 for an engine swap for thier birthdays is what REALLY gets to me. I have somewhere between $15k and $20k invested in a motor in which the bare darton sleeved block is still sitting on the engine stand. Granted I'm close to getting the motor put back together(my crank was shipped to me yesterday from earl) but I still have a long way to go and when I'm done there WILL NOT be one damn sticker on my car(unless someone wants to pay for a hotel room close to the track

This show seemed to be following the trend of all the tech based reality shows of getting more into the conflict and personal interviews than the actual tech. It may appeal more to the Survivor etc viewers but is of no interest to me as an engineer as the older versions were. As was said above, any info on what was actually done to the cars and the budgets involved would be actual interest to me versus who was watching the kid when she was working on the car or the 47'th closeup of jerricurl boy telling us how cool this is.
I also thought using an 1/8th mile gave way more advantage to the Mitsu due to the launch versus a full 1/4 mile.

Every thread I have read about the show leads me to believe,
That most of the people on this forum care WAY much about this. It was a show, designed to entertain. Watch it and enjoy. If you go into it looking to pick apart anything that is not to your level of seriousness, of course you are not going to like it.
Had they made it extremely tech related, you would get the other side of the spectrum saying it was to TECH related. They don't know nor care about what bearings were used, and whatnot.
I would like to see it become a series, it would be something that is related to an interest I have. It doesn't have to be Honda-Tech TV for me to enjoy it.

I hated that show, it was unfair and it made honda look stupid, plus the time she ran in the 1/8 was a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope those tears stained her stupid, show off face. what a retarded girl."yeah, it's going to be on the discovery channel", I hope she somehow gets to read this. Oh, and wanting to recognize some stupid *** shocks over a free motor??????? what was that about????????that girl needs to get with it before saying she's anything close to a car enthusiast, much less a racer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
