racing harness in del sol through back window
As a Delsol owner I have pondered the many questions brought about by the unique qualities of this car. I concluded that if I were to mount anything like you are talking about you would have to first disable and remove the rear window replace it with lexan. At that point the down tubes of the cage should run through there through the trunk lid(which you have to slot or something so as to keep it able to open.) Then with all that done just strap the harness to the integrated harness bar in your cage. Problem solved.
You want to do all that in just an autox only car?
You might be able to construct a harness bar that you could use safely because the low incidence of rollover in auto-x
just my .02

ive seen the harness bars people have been using, i dont want something like that. i want my car to look stock, and put the harness away when im done. just wonder if the rear window sill is strong enough as a guide, i dont know what its made of...if i have to ill wear the harness with my stock seat belts lol

Okay I'm a little confused but I understand you correctly you want to mount your harness in the trunk>? If so, No sir you cannot do that. Im not sure of any rules specifiicly stating that you cannot but gut says that this is a really bad idea.
Conversly if you want to mount them to the inner metal framework of the rear window/trunk wall. I would imagine that you would need to add some substantial bracing... It can be done but Im not sure how pretty it would end up being.. you would loose that upper cover back there for sure.
Okay I just went back and re-read your first post... I think I got what you want to do... Are the harnesses going to be long enough. That rule thing still catches me here though.
Or am I just confused?

The safety side of me says this is a bad idea because a large part of the harness' effectiveness is the mount point. There is a reason only roll cages and seatbelt mounting points are recommended.
If that doesn't bother you than do whatever.

Sean

i just want a harness for my shoulders, i like how ot keeps it there, or else i end up using the wheel to stay put. i lock my stock seat belts now, but its such a hassle to keep fixing it to my size, then moving the back up and blah...
i was thinking of mounting the harness to the frame inside the trunk right below the black vertical wall that covers the window. and using the window sill as the guide...just an idea. oh yeah, and if the harness is not long enough, could i use a chain?
my idea is starting to sound far fetched
thanks for your comments

start using that 4th pedal. thats what its there for. or buy a race seat. i wouldnt pass your car through tech with a harness going through the rear window. most likely the angles would be all wrong.

$100 for a tube of chromoly steel? wtf would someone be smoking to get one of those? could definitely be had for less than $40 if you were to actually get up and go find a shop or metal supplier

Well I think that since this is a known quantity. Meaning supplied by a very respected dealer, I would imagine that this is sorted out and well built. Yeah you could make one or have one built for you, and it might be cheaper. But do you want to chance it? I think that 100 bux its a pretty good deal. IMHO
