Default So am i stuck getting a Vis Cf Hood now or what?

Hey people, is it just me or i hated VIS cf hoods back when everyone had problems with them and now thats all i see for sale everywhere except JDMHondaParts.com... my question is, does anyone know about their Cf hoods quality compared to others as far as rolled edges, fadding, and like OEM fitment. Also, are they a safe site to send money to, i heard trey say he had problems with a 70 or so dollar item he never got a response for... anyways i am really in need of a good JDM CF hood thats priced at around 500-600$ to my door (in canada to make it even harder to find....) I have heard more good than bad from fiber images although if i found a safe site to by them from i might consider them over another anyday...

What is anyone here suggesting in terms of places to buy and brands... i will consider a used hood as well. thanks alot.. (i searched for 6 months on a decent hood for decent price so don't flame about the searching)

From everything I've personally seen, VIS hoods are good quality. For example: On a friend's 00 Si, it has the rolled edges, lightweight, very nice weave, and a great fit.

The problem with VIS is they weight almost as much as a stock hood, so you basicly buying it for looks.

I have a vis hood in my room, not for a teg.. but still, its wayyyyyy lighter than stock, so i don't see where you got that idea..

People hate on VIS hoods.. i don't see why, they make good stuff, and the latches look great.

A friend has a VIS CF hood on his 93 teg and the fitment is great and is definately lighter than stock. If I weren't poor I would consider one for the R

I have had 2 VIS CF hoods, both JDM and both have been perfect and definately lighter than stock, even with the rolled edges.

when i got my VIS hood, it never fit my jdm correctly. i traded it to someone for a stock hood. he had the same problem. i'm not sure what vis did to take care of it.

They sure are lighter than stock but by far the heaviest cf hoods out of all brands.

They have new ones that have double cf under and completely rolled.

VIS is a good for the price show hood but nothing racey.

gen1 VIS hoods were heavy.

now, they make gen2 VIS C/F hoods which are lighter and the latch is enforced.

VIS hoods are heavy i've had 2 before and they weight around the same as oem....my last hood was a sunny stylings the fit was better, it was lightweight...it was only 8 lbs...it had the smaller weave or you ht peeps like to call "Spoon Weave"

VIS Hoods are horrible. If you want quality, definitely Spoon. There's a huge discussion about this on the EG threads too :/

GTP is the same as VIS when it comes to hoods. Same exact thing except no vis badge.

importfan sale vis as well, as far as i saw jdmhondaparts claim very light weight carbon fiber only constructed hood... my concern is fadding with theirs since someone said to not buy a hood made in so cal... but i wont base me whole opinion on fadding since ill eventually paint it CW if it does... i just wanna make sure jdmhondaparts doesnt screw me for 500$... anyone had good logn distance business with them?

That hood is just like the vis/gtp hood. Nothing different from what I see...

JDMhondaparts is a good company to do business with, you shouldn't have worries ordering through them. But $500 for cf hood is that shipped to canada or not?

I have a VIS hood and it's not a bad hood for the price. There are a few flaws in it but nothing serious. When I bought the hood I didn't know it was a carbon fiber/fiberglass mix. Does anyone make a hood that is full Carbon Fiber??

I'd like to know as well. Or maybe a Carbon/Kevlar mix.

Even the higher priced jdm hoods are made out of fiberglass and carbon. Spoon for example is completely fiberglass underneath.

GTP might sell VIS hoods, but they also make their own stuff. The GTP C-west replica for jdm front end VIS does not make. And from what I have seen it is the shittiest fitting hood on the market. 1 inch gap or more over the headlights. Ridiculous for the price they charge.

not in my experience. The latch on my vis hood is solid and metal.(see pic above)
The latch on the gtp c-wings hood I got was horrible. Wasn't metal and was barely in the hood itself. It was only being held in place with the resin and even then it was barely there. No way it would hold on it's own. I didn't even want to trust it with pins so I sold it. Haven't heard of the person having trouble with it but I didn't trust it personally

You can see how the latch is barely attached on the right better in this pic.

I had a vis cbf hood for my usdm front teg and the hood fit perfectly, took only 10 minutes to install. The holes for the rubber gasket were to small so they would have to be drilled out a bit, and they were as a lot of incosustency as far as the weaves go.

I got the hood for my jdm front now, i havent gotten around to mounting it yet, but the weave is perfect in this hood
