Default DC JDM 4-1 VS. JDM 4-1

If you had to choose between the two which would you choose and why?? I'm looking at gains all across the powerband not just peak hp.

Also, don't tell me to search, I've quite familiar w/ the two setups, just looking for the opinions of others.

had the OEM JDM 4-1 on my 1st R.. thought it was great.. had the skidplate and upper heat shield to hide it..

i bought the DC JDM 4-1 for my current R.. same or slightly better gains for less money. A lot less.... Skidplate can be fabbed from Home Depot parts and I didn't care about the upper heatshield since this is basically going to be a racecar anyhow..

I'd go with OEM JDM 4-1 just for the better ground clearance.

The DC is the better deal, it flows better and is cheaper. The only downside, as mentioned above, is the horrible ground clearance. I'm using the DC and ground clearance hasn't been an issue, so I'd say go for it.

I'm more worried about the head, bolts and various other parts that's connected to the header than the header itself. You bottom out and all that force is being transmitted "somewhere".

It's called New York City.

That and I'd rather be on the safe side in case I go off roading at a track near you.

I run the DC.. I noticed midrange gains as well as uptop.

However, I remember seeing the 2 dyno'd against each other and they were nearly Identical in gains. But, this was mated to the stock exhaust..

The DC has a 2.5" collector, so mated to a 2.5" exhaust you should see better gains.

The DC is also cheaper, and weighs much much less than the OEM manifold. That alone is worth the price..

I'm running stock suspension and won't be switching anytime soon. Does the DC have shitty clearance even w/ OEM suspension?

Also, I would most likely keep the stock cat-back, still worth it?

Heck, I've had problems with a Spoon header and stock suspension.

But I'm a bad pothole dodger.

My car is lowered on GC coilovers w/the JDM DC.. Clearance isn't great, but I haven't scraped *yet*.. I can get some pics of clearance for ya later.

EDIT: here are the pics.

I tried to get some zoomed out pics but it's too dark

keep in mind my car is lowered quite a bit.

I have the DC on stock suspension and am yet to encounter any problems. Large speedbumps havent been a problem either, it really isnt as bad as people make it out to be, just drive carefully.

Dc hangs low.

I scratched it pretty good on stock suspension.

I would not buy it again, especially now that I have a new suspension on the way.

The difference is not so great as to sway me to the DC... The OEM JDM header is good enough.

The DC is pretty sweet for the money. I had one on a '00 I bought. When it came time to sell it, I put the stock manifold back on and felt a significant power difference (wasn't just mental either). Keep in mind you'll need a different cat too, of course. BTW it was all beat to hell on the bottom from the previous owner "lowering" the car with crappy Neuspeed springs.

you must have looked at stainless. Acura Integra Type R 4-1 in ceramic is $276. Ask for Andy and tell Him RYAN sent you and you might get $5-$10 off list.
