Default Jackson Racing supercharger

I have a friend that can get me a Jackson Racing supercharger for my car for about $1000.00 for my LS. I was looking at the numbers on the jackson website and it looks like I will only get about 20 horses to the wheels. My question is, is it worth it, or should I go another route? I only have about a thousand dollars to spend right now with no extra income in the near future. My long term goal is to beat my friends Legend in both top speed and acceleration. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Ben

1. The JRSC is worth $1000
2. U should go another route
3. Cant just throw on a SC
4. Legend should not be too hard to beat

Go research

You must be reading the site wrong cuase you will get way more than 20 horse to the wheels. A JRSC for $1000 is a great deal but what all does it come with? You will need bigger fuel injectors, fuel pump, header and catback exhaust to get the full potential out of the charger.

It's a good deal, but you also have to consider tuning and other parts that are necessary to get the most out of the supercharger. For the money it will cost to get an effective supercharger setup, you can have a great custom turbo kit built that makes much more power.

Even though I'm getting a deal on this supercharger?
Also what kind of tuning would I have to do if I end up getting the supercharger?

What kind of turbo would you suggest keeping in mind this is my only car, so I can't blow it up and I'm on a budget, so I really can't go over a thousand dollars.

The JRSC will make your car faster than it is now but yes like the others said there are other cost involved, bolt ons, fuel, tuning, ect... after thats all said done to me no it's not worth it. I have seen nothing but terrible reults from LS's with JRSC. Gsr make descent results, usually around 225 whp, but in the end 60-70% of them end up going turbo eventually.

At the same time it doesn't sound like you are ready to go Turbo either, It takes research and more $ than the supercharger setup. turbo isn't for evereybody either so don't rush into anything, my suggestion is pass the deal, and if you really want to do somethign with your car save your $ and research and make sure you put it do good use

I don't think its a very good route, you'd be boosted and considered up there with Turbo cars... yet you'd only be as fast as a stock GSR. Save up for something better, or else you'd regret it down the line... when you do have the extra $$$

Yup, agree w/ Black-LS. I personally wouldn't drop $1K for the JRSC on an LS. Not a good bang for the buck. Save the $$$ for something better down the line.

But you did mention that your long term goal was to beat your buddy's Legend? If that's your main goal, then by all means get the charger & beat his ***...

i am in the same situations as you are. the very first thing that you need to do is search. stop asking people what is good and what is not good. you run ur set up according to your goal. so start searching, and if you think you are ready to get some boost, then ask the Qs on the forum....before then, these mean people will only flame you....for me, i was thinking about boosting, but it's only for street set up...so i am thinking of NA..well, just my 2 cents...
