Default My Hood won't open

Ok it has been really cold the past few weeks, now I can't get my hood open(I tried "defrosting" it with hot water, along the side where Ithougth the rubber might have froze), is there a way to release the hood latch from below?? What would be the best corse of action?

try having someone push down on parts of the hood like first on the drivers side while pulling the lever, if nothing then above the latch, then on the passenger side. My hood does the same thing, it sucks.

I tried, before the hood won't open at all, I would have to bang the H on occasion to get it open. I am thinking of getting those rice hood pin and remove the OEM latch all togeather. Dose no one know if the hood can be opened from below? This problems must have happened to someone before???

we are all in the same boat on this one, i believe u can but u would prolly have to take the front bumper off to gain access to the hood assembly because the bumper wraps underneigth that so good luck what i did was got it open and cut the damn cable but left a foot on it so i just pull the cable by the latch outside the car to open the hood its ghetto as **** but it work till spring. i may have to get rice pins too but i hope i can just get a new cable later on

Try having someone pull the release lever while you hit the top of the hood. It may be rusted and need some extra TLC.

put in a garage, get radiant heater on. or heat gun with extension.
my civic does the same thing last year. i put extra gunk and lubricant on the lock mechanism.
A while ago, we got heavy snow storm and freezing rain here in my town. every thing was solid ice. and i could open the hood just fine now.

I would just warm it up any way that you can. I wouldnt pour warm water on it because it will just freeze.

Did he honestly call hood pins rice?
SO ******* stupid. They look great and serve a **** load of purposes.

If you buy a c/f or fiberglass hood and bring your car up past 80mph, theres a

good chance that the hood will snap back or brake off the hood latch and smash

into your windshield and you would crash for sure. They also deture thieves and

with locking hood pins theres no way for a thieve to get into your hood.

But yeah the are SO RICE!!

moron

Who cares about all that mumbo jumbo... the girl in your avitar is sooo sexy!

Oh.

Ummm... if you don't get the hood open, you can remove your front bumper. This will give you clear access to the cable and latch.

if u dont feel like takin off ur front bumper take off your driver side mud guard under the fender and youll have straight access to the cable right there

That happened to me last week. I just pressed it down, banged out it, lifted it up, banged, eventually it opened.

It happened to me this afternoon, when i was washing the car, and wanting to clean the engine bay. All I did was pull on the lever, get out of the car, go pull up on the hood where the release lever is at, get back in the car, pull the hood lever again, and it released itself.

Whoa PIMPIN who is the moron now. Fist off if you don't understand something in a post ask for clarification, before making stupid ASSumptions. I have a STOCK car, STOCK hood, thus having a no purpose for extra strengh/reinforcement since my car could not reach speeds at which my hood flying open because the OEM latch is not enough would become an issue. I was refering to those "rice" pins, as the APC/Toucan or whatever cheapo brand that can be bought at Canadian Tire or some other large scale autostore, simply because I would not really be using them for their intended purpose(preventing a lightweigh hood from flying open at high speed on a RACE track). Having those pins on my stock flat black rusty(normal canadian civic rust) civic wouild be rice, sorry if you were offened, as far as I am concened if you don't have any usefull advice/tip, to myself or others who are in a similar situation, you can take a "rice" pin and shove it where the sun don't shine!

Even if your car is stock, if your removing the stock latch and obviously need something to hold it down even shitty no name brand hood pins arent rice. They serve a purpose. I love when people like you just call everything rice because you feel it will make you get more respect or make you fit in.

Youre from Quebec, king of french rice.

Whatever
