Default new guy w/ questions please help!!!!!

Hi: i am in vancouver and i am new to this forum. i have many questions to ask.

my car is a blk 02 accord coupe se mt.

i had a noname muffler installed (free from friend on my birthday)

H&R SPORTS springs which drop the car 1.5f 1.2r (but i don't like it, still too high.coil over later.)

dcsports shorter shifter adapter.(but it didn't shorten any throw i think)

15" mtx sub w/ AMP

Q1: about the shorter shifter, will there be a problem by the install?

i feel it does nothing at all.. (my friend's RSX-S w/ revotechnic feels very great)

because i think they might did it wrong or smth...

Q2: once i was driving at night w/ my head light on,my GF was playing the window contral, every time she use it, the head light went dim.. and also every light inside the car.

is it right or not? is it just normal, or my car has some problems?

if it is normal, a hyper ground wire kit will help? or hyper voltage kit.

SUN AUTOMOBILE has some kind of kits. are they good??

Q3: i am using the springs w/out camber kit. should i get a set of camber kit for both F and R or just R ? how much are they? will they ever wear out? (thinking to get used) because i don't know how fast the tire will wear out.(i haven't do wheel alinment for one month since install) do i need to do it quick?? also after i got the spring installed i feel the front left of the car is hight than the front right. the rear right is higher than the left(flat surf). is that ok or they didn't install it right?

Q4: when i stop the car at a red light(after the motor temp went to normal.)
it is hard for me to tell the feeling, i feel my car has way less torque than RSX-S' 142 lb.-ft. i don't know if it is right or not. when the car was new, it has a problem on the 5th gear. honda rebuilded my transmission. will that cause it? my mom's 95 jetta would do better than mine...

those are all for now.

i am new to this country so i am soooo sorry about my poor english i hope you guy could understant my words.

i really hope you guy could help me- a new guy to the car world.

Thanks very much for any reply and help!!

holy info over load batman!

welcome!

your camber should be ok. get alignment if the car pulls to one side when you let go of the steering wheel

as for your lights dimming and all of that, you should just get a simple check on your battery. Could be running low...you're alternator could not be charging it correctly. Bottom line: have a mechanic check it out...make sure to specify that you only want a check and not a replacement because otherwise he'll overcharge you and replace everything and anything he deems necessary.

About your camber wear, I just dropped my 90 accord lx 1.8" and I am butterflying my tires. camber wear will reduce your tire's life span about half. Camber kits are a definite yes...but since your drop is so minimal, a simple wheel alignment won't require camber kits. When you do get the coilovers, camber kits will be necessary so that you can get the most out of your tires. E-Bay has them for something like $70...hard to go wrong with camber kits, I mean a name brand is not to necessary, even used ones would be alright. Install them yourself (find an online website with how-to) and then take it to a shop and have them do another alignment ($80)

regarding your short throw shifter--i have to believe it has made a difference, that is the purpose of them(some like 30-50% shorter throws). i wouldnt compare yours to an rsx, there are probably subtle differences and they have different set-ups in terms of the gearing and such

Different cars, different brands, different requirements.....
Dropped my CRX 2.25 (needed camber)
Dropped my Civic 1.5 (no camber needed)
If you lower your car more, you'll definitely need a camber kit.

Same with the short shifter. In my CRX....damn what a difference. My Civic was the same difference as my CRX. My buddy's Prelude was hard to tell, but noticeable.

I'd get a "ground kit" regardless. They also help free HP. And you're sure it's not your stereo (sub/amp) causing the dimming?

Honda trannys are either great or not. Some go 5000 miles and need work or replacment, some go 500,000 miles with no porblems. Maybe change your tranny fluid.

A1: sorry, i have no experience with the short shifters...

A2: if the window is already up, and you try to pull the switch up, you're putting extra strain on the window motor... so in a situation like that, the lights dimming a little bit is normal. but if it dims a lot while the window is still going up, you might want to get the battery and alternator checked. keep in mind that in colder weather, any electric motor is going to have a harder time working... as for hyperground wires, in my opinion, they're not worth it, but i haven't tried them myself (nor do i ever plan on trying them...) i'd also personally stay away from hyper voltage kits

A3: from experience with our year accord, i highly suggest a rear camber kit. rear camber on our accords gets really bad really quickly. the front you can do without a camber kit. (my car is lowered 1.8/1.7 w/ only rear camber kit, and alignment is within factory specs.) if you get coilovers and lower the front more than 2 inches, you may need a camber kit for the front... as for your car sitting uneven, it's possible the springs weren't installed correctly, but also check tire pressure, tire wear, alignment, etc.

A4: it's kinda like comparing apples and oranges... the rsx is way lighter, and that alone can make it "feel" like it has more torque
