you can usually hear/feel when vtec kicks in. mine is around 6000/6200 for my jdm b16a. differs by engine. what do u mean shift point? many of us don't have the same engines that came in our cars so you'll have to specify what engine, not car you have.

I think he wants to know where Redline and when VTEC kicks in for his motor.

Well buddy, just provide us with the set-up and we'll kick some knowledge in.

If you can't feel vtec it's probably either a sohc motor or properly tuned dohc motor.

You proly have a d16y8. Redline is at 7200 and VTEC is at 5500. Not very noticable on sochs tho.

i think he is trying to say that in which rpm range makes the most power and he will shift to next gear before the power decrease... like the type R motor has red line 8400, but in 8000 rpm it makes the most power so people will shift in 8000 rpm before it reach 8200 where the power decreasing

your car's power starts dropping off I believe around 6800 rpms. I would shift a little past redline though to keep yourself in vtec. If your rpms drop too far below 5500 it will be slugish until vtec hits in the next gear. If you shift high enough so it drops back down into vtec then you will pick up a lot quicker in the next gear.
