It mainly will rub a lot of the plastic **** out from under the fenders, once thats all gone you cant hear anything. But i bet with 17X7.5 you will rub a lot more. hope this helps.
I had 18x8 running 215/35/18 kumho tires. It rubbed a lot, so I rolled the fenders in the back, and had to bend the seem inside the front wheel wells. My car was slammed then, and now I have 17's they don't hit at all.

I am using Rota Subzero 17x7.5 on my teg with no rubbing at all. I am lowered 1.7" all around with no problems
Thanks so much, it will help in my decision alot.
ill prollly just go with 17 X 7 to be safe and remove the plastic or just cut it a bit and possibly roll the fenders if i need to. Im only going to be lowering it about 1.5 - 2.5 max

I've got 17X7 and no rub...you should be ok. I'll be putting on coilovers next week...have to wait and see if I rub then...don't think I will, but you never know.
