I know this is old topic because I did Mike's (jdmDXrex) JDM GSR cluster into his '88 Rex just about a year ago but since I more recently posted some pics of Will's Rex with the JDM ITR cluster it seems as tho people have become interested once again (i.e. I've been getting asked questions, hehe)... I'm using my old diagram for how to wire up the electronic VSS but I also just made a .PDF file of the actual pinouts... Again these may differ from the 90-91 Rex's, I don't actually know as I haven't done a cluster swap on one...

So is the VSS wiring the only wiring that is needed to make the swap work? Plug/Play other wise?

The DC cluster isn't plug and play with CRX harness so that has to be rewired (isn't too difficult as I made a table in the PDF file to show which wires go where)... But the electronic VSS is the second part you'll need to do...

You may have already seen this pic but I figured I'd put it up again anyways... Anywho this is Will's Rex that I just swapped clusters on a couple weeks ago, JDM ITR now... It's not the best pic but I'll get more up later... I'm back down at school now and not going home this coming weekend (normally always go back) because I have midterms so it may be awhlie... No prob, here's Bryson's setup after he finished. If anyone is ever working with a '90-91 it would probably be best to consult with him as he said the CRX cluster pinouts are different.
