All right I have an HJC CL-12 helmet right now, I need to get gloves, a 1 piece, and boots for about 800 dollars.

u can get the 2003 model teknic chicane 2 piece for $299 on ebay right now. Think thats about the cheapest leather suits i've found so far that are brand new. You can also get a decent pair of gloves off ebay for around 40-50bux...some are new some are used slightly.

Are these as good as the teknic? What kind of boots do you recommend? I'm going to get a used set of alpinestar gloves.

all i know is that my brother had those alpinestars sp-1 leather gloves and they ripped right through, top of the the palm area, on both gloves when he looped his bike at 30-40mphish. Hands got pretty rashed.

On the other hand, my friend low sided with my teknic carbon fiber gloves at around 45-60mphish, and it just ripped the seam of the palm. I just stitched it right back up.

I dunno how comparable those 2 crashes are tho since the area above the palm on the gloves does not have any type of padding. One landed on palm, one landed on top of palm.

btw, i cant really compare on jackets too well. I've only had the teknic jackets and i've never been down

Those gericke's are better than teknic kangaroo stuff. Astar gloves are good. Just be sure not to confuse street/cheap stuff w/ the gp plus's. Decent boots would depend on how much protection you need and how much money/comfort you're willing to comprimise for it. Also if you need to walk around while in them or strictly riding. Normal, suitable for simple riding- Icon Recon boots or similar. Dedicated riding boots for street and some walking- Astar GPS or similar. Riding only, serious trackday fast paced stuff- Astar SMX series, Sidi vertebra 1 and 2 series

Ok I'm looking at joe rocket gloves, and some cheap 100 dollar boots.

Also, I went to try on the 1 piece today, is it supposed to be really tight on the inside of your elbow when you bend your arm at first? Other than that it fits pretty well.
