Default Exhaust questions.

Hi
Ive owned my 95 gsr for about 6 months and i was wondering if you guys have any recomendations for exhaust systems. I was pricing out a greddy evo system and a cheaper ractive/vibrant one. Is it worth the coin for the greddy, as its almost twice as much. On the other hand i plan on upgrading the engine some more so maybe its wise to spend the money if its worth it.
Thx
Good message board by the way.

Not to be an ***, but you cannot turn around these days without someone telling you what the best is, come- on do a little research, the Graddy is going to be of much better quality than the ractive is, I personally like the Apexi N1 or HKS Hiper exhaust, although the HKS is only 55mm I believe VS. the APEXi 60 mm.

You get what you pay for. Go listen to other people exhausts and make a decision from there.

Ya i know the greddy evo is gonna be much better, but exhaust preferences aside, is 700 bucks american an average price for a system like that?

700 bucks is way too much for an exhaust.......you can get a good exhaust for around 350-550 dollars......personally i wouldn't get an ITR exhaust or any other exhaust that is 2.25 in diameter......the GS-R needs more breathing space than that.....i would go with the 60 mm exhausts like greddy, apex, tanabe.......i went from a greddy sp(60mm) to a stainless steel 2.25 exhaust and i could tell a big difference in power loss

you could get an Apexii N1 muffler only, and have a shop custom bend piping ... save loot by routing it UNDER the rear subframe, in between the LCA mount points, and then up to the muffler.
only one bend so its cheap to make.
much cheaper than the whole $500 catback from Apexi.
if I had to do it over again, that is what I would do.

high quality mufler, custom local shop doing the piping, and save loot for other mods.... maybe save yourself $200 + ....?

Owen: Ya, thats exactley what I did with my 70 chevelle, buy some flowmasters and take it to OK muffler and get em to put the rest on for a couple hundred.
By the way, what do you think diameter wise for the pipe...2.5 maybe 3 inch....? I would like to go FI some day, but thats not for sure...
Machaf: Heres the link if you wanna see for yourself. http://www.contemporarymotorsport.co...y.asp?PID=3766
THat price plus shipping and tax will work to arond 700 american....
