Anyone used POR-15 before?
I remember someone posting a FAQ on it but cannot find it throough the search on the site. My hatch needs some rear fender work and I have decided I am going to keep the hatch and get that done along with preventing any future rust on the floors. I have heard good things about the POR-15 but was wondering if anyone had the link to the guy who did the writeup or if anyone has any experience with the stuff?
I have used it. its fine if you can get all the lose rust off, and have Clean clean metal, meaning Zero oil grease or crud. Plus wear several pair of glovs. It WILL NOT come off your skin for a week.
no joke, it only comes off by (wear) and that is true for your skin as well. It works great IMO. You can paint directly over rust, but it is best to prep the surface. The only negative of POR-15 is that it is sun sensitive. So it should be painted if any is visable to the sun. Most of the time it's used to cover rust up on the bottom and from behind panels, so that's good news. Also, it comes in a few colors if your really interested. I bought it in silver and Black (Gloss and Flat). You can buy it at any paint store and it will run you about 35-40$ a quart.
