Default Gas Pedal is sticking... need some help

I have a 98 civic EX...

Lately (in the cold of the mornings it is more apparent) my gas pedal has been sticking, it still does it even after everything is warmed up though. Does anyone have any insight they would like to share with me on this? Anything would be appreciated. It is progressing very slowly but I do tell a difference over time as it gets worse... any opinions??

Thanks in advance,
Jana
p.s sorry for lack of knowledge im really trying to learn... if someone has a quick explanation also as to what all goes into making this might happen I would love to know.

clean tb as well as throttle cable, lube it up and maybe lube up the pedal mechanism in the car.

This was happening on my 00 Si and there was a TSB through Honda about it. You might want to call your local dealer and find out the fix for it.

hey thanks for the very helpful responses!...

I havent had much time to really try everything to solve the problem quite yet but I did get out there and lube up the little pedal mechanism... I just took it for a spin round the block to see if that helped at all and it did, i'm sure that is quite temporary though so I will try the other responses later on in the week, thank you again...

Well i'm cleaning out the TB tomorrow afternoon.
I have another question, and I have no idea if this would be caused by the same thing the sticky gas pedal would but when I go to crank my car (usually after it has been sitting) I turn the key to crank and nothing... I'm not exactly sure what the fuel pump sounds like but something does kick on for a sec (probally the fuel pump)... It does absolutely nothing... sometimes if I just hold it int he cranked position for 5 sec or so it'll eventually turn over and start, but sometimes it takes 3-4 times of nothing to get it to even turn. Is there anyone who knows what this may be? It started doing this about 4 days ago.
Thank you for helping the stupid people,
Jana
