Default Midwest Expo 4 Caravan

Leaving Chicago: Thursday June 3rd.
Time: 9 AM or so, maybe later depending on where everyone is coming from (i.e., wisconsin drivers, maybe others from west)
Location: TBD. We can all meet at my place OR from Walker Brothers (breakfast place) in Glenview, IL.

Michigan/Ohio/Indiana folk - Let's actually meet up this time along the way on Thursday.

AA/Mike/Clayton/DK/Gong/etc - you guys can crash at my place if you want to not have to hurry around the next morning, just let me know.

Jeff/Budman, Wes/White Dragon, other Nebraska/Iowa/Kansas/etc people - what are your plans? We've got a few people who can put you guys up for the night, or something like that.

I assume we would be taking the shortest route, which means the toll roads past South Bend, Toledo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Anyone who wants to join us along the way, we can use the highway service areas as meeting points.

Nothing like a lack of showers to get people talking.

I think the Walker Brothers in Glenview (Waukegan Road north of Lake Avenue) might be slightly more convenient, for coming from your place as well as for getting onto the expressway...

Agreed Ken.... Waukegan Road might be the better one to go to.

But... if we are all meeting at my place, we can all pack in a few cars to go to breakfast That parking lot at Walker brothers isn't so big

MN is ~400 miles from Chicago. I would suggest that you leave on Wednesday and stay in the Chicago area overnight, then leave with us.

It's about 650 miles from Chicago to the Expo hotel in Winchester. That's probably about 9-10 hours driving time, plus another 2-4 hours of stops (depending on how long we need to wait around for folks at meeting points to arrive).

If we want to meet at Walker Brothers in Glenview, here are the directions.

From Milwaukee and the north, on the Tri-State Tollway:
Take I-94 east from Milwaukee and northern suburbs. Follow all signs for I-94 east. Stay in the left lanes for I-94 (Edens Expressway) where it splits with I-294 to O'Hare. After going through the toll plaza, take the next exit, for IL-43 / Waukegan Road. Turn right at the top of the ramp onto Waukegan Road southbound. Go 4.4 miles and the restaurant will be on your left; the entrance driveway into the parking lot is on the far side of the restaurant.

From northern suburbs, on the Edens Expressway (U.S. 41):
Proceed southbound on US-41. After you cross Lake-Cook Road, US-41 merges with I-94 and becomes I-94 east. Continue to exit 34A "Skokie Blvd" and take that exit. Go through the first traffic light at the shopping center. At the next traffic light (major intersection), turn right onto Lake Avenue heading westbound. Go two miles to the light at Waukegan Road (major intersection) and turn right onto Waukegan Road northbound. Go 1/4 mile and the restaurant will be on your right; the entrance driveway into the parking lot is on the near side of the restaurant.

From Chicago and the south:
If you're downtown, take I-94 west (Kennedy Expressway) to the junction, and follow signs for I-94 west onto the Edens Expressway northbound. Follow all signs for I-94 west. Take exit 34B "Lake Avenue west" onto Lake Avenue westbound. Go two miles to the light at Waukegan Road (major intersection) and turn right onto Waukegan Road northbound. Go 1/4 mile and the restaurant will be on your right; the entrance driveway into the parking lot is on the near side of the restaurant.

Then Chicago (and the route from Chicago) is several hundred miles out of your way. People coming from Columbus, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Kansas City are probably going to be taking I-70 all the way to Summit Point, across the center of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Our Chicago group will be taking I-80 east from Chicago across the northern portions of Indiana and Ohio, and the two routes don't converge until Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh and only ~150 miles from Summit Point.
