Over Revving Damage?

I was at around 90mph on 5th gear and was going to downshift to 4th accidently went to second
and saw my tach hit off of 10k. After I heard the loudest ticking noise I've ever heard coming from the head/block area. Lost acceleration as the rpms climbed. Eventually my oil was gone (I just changed it last week too) and my motor started to overheat. I pulled over to inspect to only hear it ticking or (some kind of metallic hitting) bang even louder. Im pretty sure I need a new longblock now
, but anyway what may be some diagnosis you guys can give me. Im pretty bummed on it, I've seen horror stories in the past with the valve going straight into the piston. My setup was 01 itr cams, portflow springs, itr outter springs,crower retainers and p28 skunk no rev limit.
wow............maybe spun a rod bearing? or valve to pistion contact?
even with the upgraded valve train you have i dont know if there safe up to 10000rpm?
i think it might be a rod bearing.........i've heard really loud ticking that sounded like it was coming from the head area but it was infact a spun rod bearing.......

This is why I always like to have the rev limiter there, although in this situation, I dont think the ECU would have been able to react fast enough. 10000 rpm probably did a Job on the bottom end, But I cant be sure, I say take i apart and rebuild, if not, ITR bottom end time
I prefer a soft touch to a factory rev limiter, and yes I have been stopped by the rev limiter a few times, but it will not stop you on a 5th to 2nd downshift like that. You infact need quick reflexs in those situations.

I just got it towed home. Noticed the timing belt is loose now and about to slip off. Also my the alternator drive belt was flipped upside down and apparently about to break. The noise is coming from the block, sounds like it is about to bust through the header or something. Im hoping that my head is okay though. This repair is going to be expensive. I'll post pics of the damage when I can get everything opened up.
