Default I dont understand how it wont fit, need some help

ok well i did my timing belt and i bought a new water pump for the motor. Now the motor im running is a 1st gen b16a1 jdm(honestly i didnt even think the jdm matterd but its a part of my question) and i bought a 3rd party waterpump for a 2000 civic SI-R (im in canada) i figure the 2000 SI-R would be the same

well the 1999-2000 SI-R water pumps are the exact same part #'s according to the computer from the store. well i picked up the pump, looked about the same and i took off my old one which is pretty worn(its starting to leak) and

a)the pully which the belt goes on the pump on the new one i picked up is about 1" longer then the old one, which looks like it wont clear the upper cover

B) has 1 bolt bracket that the old one didnt which kinda gets in the way
c) it just doesnt fit, it just doesnt fit!

so what the hell is the deal! do i need a 1st geb b16a1 jdm pump? lol......like i didnt know there was a diff, if there even is a difference at all
i put the old one in there with alot of high temp gasket maker but its still leaking

im gonna have to return the new one because it wont fit but do any of you guys know which damm water pump i need
argh im so frustrated!
thanks guys

thanks alot for the advise guys

lol what are the chances that the manufacturer would mispackage the wrong pump into a b16a1 water pump box? not very common

that happening to me? yeah it did lol

it was mispackaged and thast why it didnt fit

i went to honda, picked on up off a 2000 civic SI-R and its perfect i was scared 2 go to the dealership because thier prices are usually 150% above 3rd party prices but they only charged me 158 bucks (canadian) wheres the 3rd party onlt charged me 153..... im impressed lol
but yeah
yay im happy
