Hi guys, I have a slight problem. While driving around tonight with some fellow honda-tech members, I noticed that my transmission has started to act up. Here's the symptoms...
~I can not easily get the car into gear from a stop.
~When shifting during driving, it is hard to get into the next gear.
~All gears are hard to get into.
~when starting, the car shakes at times.
~my clutch pedal has been feeling weird for a while (maybe a month)
All right, I can't think of anything else to add. My theory is that the master cylinder went out. Anybody have any other suggestions?? I would really appreciate any help people can give me, because at this point, i can't have much down time.
Thanks!!!

ANY RATTLING NOISES?
those are the same symptoms I had with a broken clutch disk spring, it made it tough to shift, and made a rattling noise for a bit too.
good luck!

those are the EXACT same symptoms i had when my original clutch failed. the friction disk spring retainer broke and the spring was ready to fall out!
time for a new clutch!!!

All of those symptoms are signs that your clutch is not releasing properly. Meaning, when the pedal is fully depressed, the clutch pressure plate has not fully released the disc.
It may not be your clutch itself. It could be the release system (i.e. master cyl, plumbing, slave cyl) ... If any air gets into the hydraulics, you lose travel in the clutch and could lose reserve. So I would have the release system bled first, then if it's still no good, then look at everything else.
But DO THIS ASAP -- Right now, every time you shift, you're doing MAJOR wear on your transmission synchronizers.

Thanks guys for all your input. I'm going to check the Master Cylinder today, but if it's not that, do you know any good clutch prices?? I want sort of a half-race, half-daily driver clutch. Any suggestions??

Hmm...so realisitcaly, How hard is it to drop the transmission and take a look at this stuff?? I haven't tried yet on an integra.
talk to ben@importparts.com - he gets a really good deal to HT members on clutchnet clutches.
No, if it's the release system (i.e. master cyl, slave cyl, plumbing, etc) the clutch will still grab fine. That's the main indication that it's not the clutch itself.
The symptoms of a bad release system usually point to the clutch not releasing fully -- all of which you have.

Well...here's the deal. I checked out my release system already.
I bled the clutch fluid.
it didn't fix it.
I flushed the whole system and refilled and bled it.
It didn't fix it.
I took my master cylinder off and inspected it for leaks or any other malfunctions.
Nothing...
So, I am at a loss. My pedal feels as stiff as it always has. In fact, it feels better now that I've bled it. I'm gonna have to drop my tranny and take a look at some stuff.
Anybody have any other suggestions??
