Default Problem with my prelude

Posted this on preludeonline already, but Im posting here too since I need help asap!

Ok, so everything was working good before tonight. I dont know what I did exactly, but now when Im accelerating in first, the car shutters pretty bad when starting off, I can also feel it shifting into 2nd, and very very slightly into 3rd, 4th is now much more notchy then it used to be. It also seems as if the car acts like it wants to stall, but it dosent have any idle issues when im sitting at a stoplight, clutch in or not.

It first started when I needed to get infront of a bug who seemed to think they had a ferrari, to get on the onramp. No problem, just a little brisk accleration. After flooring it through 1st/2nd to get to the onramp, then contining on through 4th, everything seemed ok. The problem started when I got off the highway and pulled up to a red light. I was sitting in 1st, with the clutch in when it started to studder/shake, almost like a stall, but it seemed more harsh then any stall Ive felt before. I now need to give it extra gas when starting out, and it seems like the wheels hop a little, like its really jerky. Hard to explain. Thinking back, I dont remember shifting really hard or forcing it into gear, and it didnt show any signs before pulling up to the light.

Called my dad who works at a honda dealer, the first thing he told me to check was the clutch master cylinder fluid. It was mostly full, probably |--------| that far from the top, Im assuming thats ok and it dosent have to be right at the top.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Just moved to vegas so I dont have a lot of extra money to take it to a dealer right now, but any help would be great.

BTW, the car is a stock 97.

Could be something as simple as a bad spark plug or a faulty dist. cap.

youre description sounds alot like what happened to me. i had about 89k miles on it i had the clutch down and in 1st waiting for the green when it started just jerking like it was gunna stall, until it would just stall right when i started the car. but then i had to force it into the gears. found out it was my clutch and throwout bearing, got it replaced with new act clutch, and its driving fine ever since. if its not the clutch, i dont know what else. get it checked

Definitetly sounds like a clutch/clutch engagement problem...I would replace the master cylinder, and then the slave cylinder and see if that fixes your problem (Don't forget to thoroughly bleed the system). If not, I would bet either your pressure plate is cracked, or something is wrong with your throw-out bearing aka new clutch time...which is kind of like Miller Time except way more frustrating and expensive...and clutch replacement won't get you drunk.

I had almost the IDENTICAL symptoms in my car this past weekend!! My gut feeling was clutch-related as well BUT it ACTUALLY was a SEVERELY Fouled Spark plug in Cylinder #1/4 (not sure... I'm dumb)

read the thread see if it is of any use:

I would check spark plugs FIRST

Hope this helps some...
