Default Tire Rates? Wear pattern? How different are they?

So 2 of my Azenis were slashed last night Needing new tires now, I called every shop in town from Discount Tire to Firestone to Don Olson to Tire Kingdom. No one has 205/50/15 in stock, but finally found a few that could get them in by the afternoon. I don't know a whole lot about tires and I couldn't wait for an online shipment as I needed to get to work. I roll up to the local store and he's like, I have a Coopers for 78 or Bridgestone RE910's for 117. I've heard things about the RE010, but didn't know much about the 910's. He goes to put on the new tires and he's like, "I really shouldn't do this because it's a different tread rate" or something like that. He's talkin' all this mumbo jumbo about V rated, T rated, it could have been X rated for all I know.

1) Can someone please explain the differences?
2) Will it hurt wear patterns?
3) Cause any problem while road racing? (I don't have an extra set of tires)

the ratings are the speed ratings.. i dont know them off hand. let suppose a V rated tire can handle up to 90mph, and a T can handle up to 50mph (these ratings are just made up BTW).. he is saying if you mix the ratings, it could cause a problem..

compredre..?? i know it sounded confusing.

I would not worry about the Speed Rating unless you plan to exceed these. The tread wear index # is a little more interesting although these are not apples to apples among different manufacturers.

On the street, mixing tires would not bother me and I have done this before. I would be a bit more carefull mixing different tires on an AX/HDPE/W2W Race since different model/brand tires will behave differently at the limit and the grip will be different. The harder tire will lose grip first so put the non-Azenias where you want to lose grip first.
