i need help wiring my side markers. i want to wire it so that the light stays on and blink. how can i do that? b/c i wired it up earlier n i can only get it to stay on or to make it blink. HOW do i make it do both?? any suggestions? thanks in advance.

o its a 93 si hatch btw.

yea thats wat he is asking but the way you have it right now is jdm lol

 

hook up one wire to the green, the other to red (at the corner light). but imo, it looks best the way you have it now.

 

on w/ lights: red and black
on w/ signal only: green and black

 

If you get a relay that has the ability to send an intermittent signal, you'll have your problem solved. You need three wires for the "on and blinking" mode, wherein you have constant power and ground until the signal is activated and the pulse from ths signal wire breaks the contact of the power or ground wire in teh relay, thus causing the light to blink. Check radio shack or Lowes. I'm sure you'll find some.

Advance Auto or Autozone probably has them as well.

hmm what kind of relay is this? is there a certain name for it?

 

Just find some side markers with the three way bulb. To make a two way work like a three is a work of art.

 

I'd be interested in hearing an answer for this too.

illl go to autozone n ask about these TWO FILAMENT BULBs.

Three way... or two filament. or is it really the same thing ??

 

at this point the question has been thoroughly answered...

you need a relay for it to be on constantly and still blink, you also need to make sure you have a 2 filament(sp?) bulb.

so then the bulbs in the bumper lights on a dc2 are dual filament, two levels of output. gotcha, not sure why my understanding strayed. with this more thoroughly explained i would say a dual filament would not give you what you want, as 00si explained the relay is what you want for the break in current causing the blinking.

if you do that, the side marker will light up with your parking lights, and blink with the turn signals....

I really hope it is that simple. Im gonna put em in when it gets warmer. sounds good hopefully i wont have to fuss with relays. cus i do prefer that look. Thanks peoples.

One more thing, how can you tell the jdm ones. and wheres a good place to get em on the net.

 

This may be a stupid question, but why can't you just splice from the corner light wires and use a 2 filiment bulb? That sounds pretty simple.
