Default Replace Throwout Bearing with Clutch?

I'm going to be installing a new clutch and flywheel soon - should I go ahead and replace the throwout bearing while I am at it even though there seems to be nothinkg wrong with it? What is the cost of a new one?

Every time I've talked to someone who did a new clutch install (or every time I've helped do one.... only a few times), they've replaced the throwout bearing.

I think it is a good idea to replace it.

All of the clutch kits I have seen or bought have included TO bearing. Wouldn't hurt putting a fresh one in just make sure to lube it heavily

I think Willard replaces throw out bearings more often than he replaces clutches.

my clutch pedal felt awful so i replaced everything. it turned out the clutch & pressure plate were in great shape, but the to bearing was dried up, degraded, and nasty. i vote to replace it.

jup... #3 is going into the car this week (62,000 miles)... and I don't sit at traffic signals with my foot on the clutch.

the heat must kill them.

I would replace the bearing everytime the tranny is off.

clutch is fine on my car... just the fawking springs are crapping out.

How many miles are on it? If over 30K, I'd replace it no questions asked. it's only ~$30. Well worth it to save you from pulling the tranny later if it fails. Just my $.02

Also be sure to use the special Honda lubricating grease (the name of which eludes me) on the clutch fork and TO bearing. It's like $10 from the Honda/Acura dealer.

throwout bearing is the thing that connects to the shift fork thingy (excuse my bad grammar/vocabulary), which sticks out of the front of your tranny with the rubber b00t on it.

pilot bearing is the bearing you press into the center of the flywheel.

Yeah, the throwout is the one that rides on the input shaft smoothed area. The splines, and the smooth area should be lubricated before installing it all. Too much lube isnt good for the clutch disc when you start moving.
The pilot bearing is put in the flywheel, it gives the input shaft support when you apply the clutch.

Make sure you actually put it in when you change your clutch...my friends put a new clutch in then put the entire trans back on unaware that the throw out bearing was still sitting on the tool box..hahaha...needless to say they had to take it all back apart and put it on...but yes replace it...
