Default Frackville autocross/snowcross today. LOADS OF FUN!

It was AWESOME! Definitely more fun in the snow than I ever imagined. There were about 20 competitors and the snow was about 2-3" deep w/ice underneath.

I ran my Civic still lowered but fixed the camber with snow tires. I had rooster tails shooting up and I was sliding sideways and using the e-brake with grace. At one point I lost control and went deep into the snow. I wish I had my video camera because it looked like a winter commercial snow going over my car

There were 3 classes: FWD, RWD, and AWD. I took 4th or 5th in FWD. The regional exec took 1st in his VW VR6 Jetta (on fresh Blizzaks) and his wife took 3rd.

Weather wasn't too bad. In the morning we had a breeze so it felt like 18. Then it warmed up to 35 around 3pm.

You guys should come out to the next one on the 15th.

Mike

I wish the snow stayed on the ground long enough for us to have one of these locally

Man, I'm jealous.

Of course, I would have take the RWDer and end up having way too much fun to worry about being fast... exorbitant slip angle, anyone?

...maybe I'm really a drifter at heart. sshhhhhhh.

It was definitely different than a regular autocross on dry pavement I looked like WRC when I went sideways into the snow and my whole car was engulfed in snow.

Where is Frackville? I need some autocross action. I wouldn't even have to change tires for this one

ah, now that makes sense! Thanks for clarifying that. I guess that would've been more clear to me had I been to an auto-x... oh well, come March 21 that will change

Frackville is about 1 hour south on I-81 from you. Couple of people come from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area.

When Philly had a winter season last year, the rule was "the later you went, the faster you went".. cars cleared the snow and ice and you just got better and better traction.. did you have the same thing there?

Mind you, it was still a ton of fun for me..

I remember that event... I pulled some strings so I could run 1st heat when it was REALLY slippery. I remember one right hand turn where the back would come around so fast... what a hoot!

Actually by our 6th run in the afternoon some areas of the pavement were showing, but it was more ice than grippy asphalt. I found out the hard way
