Default Hondata IM gasket..few questions.

does the hondata imgasket really lower intake temps by 15-20%?

i always used oem im gaskets but recently i was in my local shop and noticed the hondata im gasket and did a little research and hondata says it lowers intake temps by 15-20%..can anyoneverify this or add to this info?...would it be worth using this gasket for a street built head?

Yes it does insulate the intake manifold to help reduce thermal conductivity, thus reducing it's temperature. And yes, it's worth using.

I've heard good things about it.
Will most likely get one whenever I decide to get me a new IM.

plus they're reuseable, so after awhile it will pay for itself. i pull my intake mani off at least 4 times a day.

My experience was more like 10-11%. I have Hondata and datalogging, so I just watched the IAT sensor readings. At 200 degrees, that's 20 degrees cooler intake temps-it is good for a few hp.

How well it works depends upon the way you drive, and where you drive. Naturally the gasket will work better when there is a lot of airflow both through the manifold and through the engine compartment. So if you do a lot of highway driving, it will be more effective than if you do primarily stop and go driving where heat soak will become a major factor.

hondata makes a great product in their im gasket, but a more affordable im gasket that is nearly identical to the hondata is the an-r.
an-r.com
either way you will have a cooler im

I've got the hondata IM gasket, and after pulling my motor apart for this rebuild, the gasket is all nasty-looking. The intake ports seemed to have shrank (i.e., the holes that the air flows through are now smaller and look like it will restrict/disrupt the flow of air). Am I the only one who has had this problem, and should I reuse it?

Im using the Hondata Gasket and the manifold does feel a little cooler but the other advantage to it is. If you remove your manifold alot or any its reusable.

thats the one thing i dont like about the hondata gasket, they get deformed way too quickly. after being used for maybe about 100miles, i pulled mine and the ports were all squished out of position. thats probably causing lots of disturbance. and all the bolts were tqed to spec so thats not a factor. I think the material used is just too soft.

i have em as well...and my intake manifold is twice cooler...just have to sandwich the hondata gasket with 2 stock gasket and use rubber washers so the nuts wont touch the intake mani...

yeah, it works much better if you also have the insulating washers. Otherwise the nuts touch the studs, which are in the mani, and you still get heatsoak.

Not a bad idea to reroute your coolant lines that go to the TB/IM while you are at it.
