JUN cam gear allen bolts are rusted... big deal or no?
any good thread should start off with some RICE. a good ole persian cuisine

it has been like this for a while now. i noticed it when i got back from the beach, must of been all that salt and crap. just about the whole motor looks like this as you can see. i sprayed some 3m anti rust on it. should i order some new allen bolts from JUN?? how should i go about cleanin it without getting any particles dropping below the gears.

Thanks

well, it is quite simple. you run an open valve cover like that you are risking oxidized parts. the stock gears would do the same thing when subjected to salt. it has nothing to do with "jun" having inferior parts.

yah, this is mainly from the beach. before then its been perfect. D you are right, i might as well get them from lowes or something.
but all this snow and salt on the roads from the Snow doesnt help anyone.
BTW: i just covered the lower part of the gears today, got the plastic peice in, but just dont have the bolts.

im not saying jun makes crappy parts..i just dont wann put gears on my car that i payed 360 bucks for and have them rust..i understand that salt will make steel rust..i guess ill just have to not drive my car in the winter after i install the gears
Does this happen to all cam gears? I am running my Toda's with a cut valve cover for a year now and have not seen this happen???

no, it is just that i had these exposed to the air and moisture with salt. which made them rust and look ugly. but i think its just surface rust.

I want some Kabob with it. haha
Hey Koroush just go to Ace, and look in the department I always go in. Go all the way down the aisle to the left and look for Stainless Steel (SS) bolts hex head. Take one of urs out and get a bolt that will thread onto it, then look through all of the SS ones till you find the exact same length and thread pitch. Only take two out at a time so you dont lose your adjustment on the cam gears yo.
