When is the VTEC engagement point? I tried searching for this but no answer anywhere.

Also, is our VTEC a true VTEC? I read that SOHC VTEC system are not a real performance VTEC. I know that it was really kicking in the R when VTEC engaged and it's not so bad in the Prelude. Is there any noticable change in the Accord? Thanks.

i know the cutover v6's are pretty low, but dont really know, on the 4's its too dam high in the rpm band to be noticable, so i mover mine down to a more useful point

 

I believe vtec 'kicks in' at 3500 in the V6

 

I don't know about the V6s, but you don't always get the big cam lobe at the same RPM. It's dependant on throttle position, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and ummm maybe some other stuff.
You should notice it kicks in earlier at WOT, later at partial throttle.

 

What about the VTEC crossover in the 2.3L VTEC accord?

 

No clue. It's so quiet and seemless I can't hear it or feel it.
