Default 9005 CONVERSiON ON 3rd GEN TEGS *searched* UPDATED W/ PICS!!

I've searched and read the articles on team-integra.net about the bulbs and their insufficiencies. The guy mentioned 9005 conversions and now my question is how long will these conversions last and will they burn off my headlight assembly due to the higher wattage output? Has anyone done this conversion and how long did it last, any known problems about the conversions?

Cliff note: So basically looking for some good cons and pro's on the conversion.

Mine didn't have amy problem for several months before I went to HIDs.
The output was much brighter. Highly recommend doing it. I had Sylvania silverstars!

nice cool beans...I would go with the HID but my wallet wont allow that. So you still have your modified pair of 9005 silverstars? Would you want to sell them to me? Thanks

Easy to modify it. I used a heat gun with a help of a long nose pliers to remove the extra plastic that blocks the fitting. Once removed it's plug and play. Mine lasted for a long time.

lolz.

I just got my 98+ Front conversion and rOckin the Sylvania silverstars! 9005. - The output are much brighter~!

I had the 9006 Sylvania Silverstars before my movement to 9005, and that the 9006 looks whiter for some reason? Either way, the 9005 is nice to do. Lots of good light, yet VERY white to me. -

i did the conversion using stock oem bulbs, it came out weird, the light just seemed to spread a lot. is it because they were the oem bulbs?

i got replaced my stock 9005 conversion w/ silverstar 9005 conversion, i did not find any noticeable increase from stock 9005 to silverstar 9005, but the silverstar 9005 is MUCH WHITER than the stock 9005

did you replace your 9006 bulbs with the silverstar 9005 cause that's what you're suppose to do with the conversion so your low beams would be brighter.. i think you just replaced the 9005 with another 9005...

hMm, Were talking about upgrading your street beams to the 9005 bulbs. -=P Not upgrading your high beams. (Meaning, use the high beam bulbs, in your lower beam housing) 9006 to 9005 conversion.

since you guys are on the topic, could anyone do a brief how to, or what to do to install these? after reading your guys posts, im interested in doing them. From some comments, it seems like it will eventually burn out, is this true?

I just use a nail clipper to clip the outer ring and a xacto knife to get the guides out.

easy stuff.

Funny thing... ok so after i read this post, i was kinda pumped to do the 9005 conversion, since its cheap and seems like a fun little mod. So i picked up myself a set of slyvanias (sp), went home and took out the bulbs that have been in the car since i bought them. Low and behold, there already 9005's. I though that was interesting, then i noticed something that kinda freaked me out, the headlight harness on the passenger side of the car had one of the two prongs almost melted completly through...., in the past few days that headlight has been flickering to, but i took it to the fact that the bulb was loose in the socket, never glimpsed at the hanress. So now, trying to find the part number or something so i can get a new harness.

just go to AutoZone and buy harnesses, cut off the old plugs and wire them in. If you want to make the 9005 conversion easier, buy 9005 plugs and wire them into the low beam harness. Then in the future whenever you buy low beam headlights, all you have to do is shave the little tab on the base of the bulb.

most chances im gona do this, or try to get a hook up at acura and get oem harness.

So were the 9006 silverstars brighter then the 9005 silverstars? or were the 9005 silverstars bighter then the 9006 silverstars?
