Default Power Seats Security Approach

i wanted to make it has hard as i can for a thief to be able to steal my car or disable my alarm, i'm going with the layered security approach and i was wondering, i have a power drivers seat, so whenever i step out of my car and arm the alarm is there a way in which i could have the drivers seat roll all the way up, making it difficult for a thief to have access to wires where my driver kick panel is(because then its a really tight squeeze) and once it rolls up, power is disabled from the power seat switch as long as the alarm is armed. i'm tryin to be creative with my install, plz help me out.

That is a good idea.
But on Honda/Acura the power seats still operate without the key in the ignition if I recall correctly.

correct, the power seats operate without the key so i was thinking maybe i can cut one of the wires(just not sure which one), add a relay so wheneva the alarm is armed the relay would be energized or deenergized(not sure which term it is), and the power seats wouldn't work, then when the alarm is disarmed, the relay would allow the power seats to function. same thing like the starter kill except like a power seats kill. lol lol

If your alarm has the necessary outputs then yes it can be done with relays.

Heck you prolly can use a window module.

yeah i was thinking that a window module would work just about the same for the power seats. jus need to know what wires operate the power seats.

Only way to find out is take out your driver's seat and have a look underneath.

but with the window module, it probably wouldn't disable the powerseats when the alarm is armed.

If the power seat has a control module, you disable the power seat with a relay so that it only works when the ignition is ON. This way you can just manually move the seat up before exiting the car or use a window module.

87a - blank
87 - power seat power/control wire (fuse block side)
30 - power seat power/control wire (seat side)
86 - ignition 12v+
85 - ground

Also, use a diode across the coil. Band side on 86, other side on 85.

so with this setup, i would have to leave the key in the ignition to the ON position, move the seat up manually, then take the key out of the ignition, right?? i was thinking about using the relay and splicing into the ORANGE wire(ground when armed)(viper 790xv), so i can get out of the car, move the seat up manually, then arm the alarm which would disable to power seats. what do u think about that setup??

also i don't quite understand how to position the diode, i know it has a band on one side that points in one direction, but is what you're saying is is connect one side to the ignition +12v and the other side to the ground wire. THz

If you use the relay to interrupt the power seat while the alarm is armed, the relay will always be ON until you disarm.

Yes on the diode question. The band side (cathode) always follows the side of the coil that you are choosing as the positive 12v trigger. The other side (anode) always follows the side of the coil that is attached to ground. It doesn't matter which side is positive or negative (85 or 86), as long as they're opposite in polarity. So if you choose 85 as your positive 12 volt trigger, then 86 will need a ground trigger and vice versa. The diode will be then connected accordingly.

Just in case you're wondering, the diode will protect whatever circuit the relay is connected to from voltage spikes. It also increases the life of the relay.

Another thing I would suggest is to get your hands on the electrical troubleshooting manual for your car. It's only about $40 from Helms and it gives you extremely detailed information on all of your car's circuits. It also comes in handy if you ever have electrical problems after your warranty runs out.

good idea , i dont know where you live , but 90% of cars stolen these days are towed wich brings up the old saying from day one that i have been installing
" if they want your car they WILL get it "

well yeah i know i thief can use a tow truck, but i plan on getting air suspension pretty soon, so that would ALMOST eliminate that factor, plus i usually park in a crowded area with the wheels turned, so if they want to damage my car plus other cars while others look on.
